We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
Being able to use a Java-based solution makes the product flexible. The interface and the number of connectors that they provide are the most valuable features. The support here, it's kind of okay. But the main thing is with the number of connectors and the UI, the user interface. It has an open BPMIt allows me to present or to demonstrate the business process flow, visually, without having to resort to PowerPoint, Visio, or other products. The speed and execution of DMN was a big selling point for us. It's very good at conducting business processes that are easily modeled and presented in a way that's easy to understand. The solution is easily compatible with HTML forms and HTML language programming and that is the most significant part. When I compare it with other BPM tools, like IBM, it is great, open source, and free when you use the community version. The most valuable feature is the ability to share the logic within the rules engine with the business, so you can put it up for everybody to read.

Newgen will structure the system based on all the requirements of the business. We can design the forms as complex forms or make our own versions to fix what's wrong. They are a good team that is proactive, and they are trying to accommodate all of our requirements. The most valuable feature for us is the Omnicon. That made sense for us because our company is now able to capture information from documents. The most valuable feature is the flexibility in using it.

We selected this solution not only for the BPM but for the entire package. The initial setup is straightforward. Our company is based around Oracle processes. It provides a lot of flexibility in its processes. The Workspace is a full, rich application where most users can find what they want. It shows them a list of their work. This solution has given us a quick time to market, the ability to integrate with the rest of the corporate applications, and the ability to hire talent in low-cost locations.

Cons
The solution could use some enhancements like adding connectors, improving forms and having a mobile app, but everything is an enhancement rather than a flaw. The support definitely can be improved. Apart from that, the language should be extendable to other platforms. If I want to write, I'll run a different platform, like Python code on top of it, or COBOL code on top of it, and it should support those languages.Lacking in forms visualization. If there were some industry templates it would have helped significantly, because it is similar to a process map for a domain. That is what we are currently creating, a domain-relevant process map.Especially when you use the open-source version, there are issues with performance.I would also like a very easy to use form builder.I would like to have a feature for audit logging, audit logs and audit log management. And some history of use for the audit logs.I would like to see the forms engine available in the open-source version of this solution.

In terms of stability, like every product it has its issues. At the system level, I would like to see things be much more flexible, especially for different document templates and introducing changes. We had consistent issues of Newgen OmniFlow crashing. It's not compatible with bounce browsers like Chrome. The development teams should be more agile and they need to have more team members.

From my knowledge of this solution, I don't see that the Oracle BPM includes features such as the growth of discovery and process mining. The solution needs to offer better integration with third-party systems. We have had some issues with version migration, from one version of processes to another. We would have to call Oracle Services but on a day to day, we didn't have any issues.Overall, the engine and the UI both have to be made lighter.Existing APIs in the product need to be fine-tuned, made more robust and flexible for adoption.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The open-source version of the product is free to use.I use the open-source free version.Camunda is much cheaper. We are using the open-source version of this solution. It is less cost-prohibitive than other solutions on the market. This solution was in our price range.
