We performed a comparison between HPE Nimble Storage and HPE Primera based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: The two solutions had a similar user rating in terms of ease of deployment. HPE Primera had a better user rating regarding pricing and service and support. In terms of features, HPE Nimble Storage users felt there were stability and scalability issues, while HPE Primera users felt the reporting console needed improvements and the user interface wasn’t user-friendly.
"The stability of Pure Storage is very very good."
"Pure Storage FlashArray has significantly improved our data center performance. It handles high workloads efficiently, providing better performance in the environment. With increased storage capacity, it has led to improved overall system performance. The tool's technology is a standout feature. It has helped me reduce storage costs by 15 percent."
"Provides fast access and is user-friendly."
"It is easy to deploy and it's all-flash, so it's very fast."
"We can store more for a cheaper price as opposed to paying for larger devices and larger rack spaces which get outdated sooner and which we'd have to change every two years. It simplifies storage for us."
"We put a fair amount of stress on it because we run sequel workloads and we run web applications where the same web files are hit over and over. We have had almost zero stability issues with that SAN, that has been really great for us."
"The predictive performance analytics are good."
"The most valuable feature of Pure Storage FlashArray is the all-flash storage performance, low latency, and efficiency of their de-duplication technology. Additionally, the ease of use is good compared to other storage systems. The features in data protection, snapshotting, and replication between data centers and sites are superior to other solutions."
"The most valuable feature is the NVMe flash storage."
"HPE Nimble Storage is very stable and performs well."
"The tool’s support is feasible."
"They could probably improve an organization with just about anything. It is all a matter of ease of use, ease of the implementation, etc."
"The fact that they offer free training is awesome. There are not very many vendors that do that."
"Not only is it high performing, but it is also more compact and fits better in our storage arrays than equipment from other storage providers."
"It has allowed us to upgrade our DMS to the latest version and reuse the older array as the DR storage for VMware SRM."
"I use InfoSight quite a bit. It works well. It allows you to get some insight into what's happening in your environment immediately, instead of having to send things off and having them analyzed and sent back to you."
"HPE Primera has good integration. All the users are using HP servers and some systems, such as Synergy, which integrate well into the solution."
"The initial setup is simple."
"The high availability was most valuable because they come with what's called 100% data availability. With special terms, they license and guarantee 100% data availability. That was probably one of the key features or components that HPE was offering with that model."
"HPE provides good support through their customer service."
"The initial setup is very straightforward. It's not overly complex."
"The interface is simplified."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"It is a stable and scalable solution with quick and efficient storage capability."
"I would like to have support available in Spanish."
"I would like to see more detailed reporting on the data. However, it would be nice to know what are the exact VMs usage after deduplication and/or what that VMs actual latency and bandwidth is, outside of VMware."
"Currently, the solution fails to support file screening."
"A three wave application or multi wave application synchronization would be an improvement."
"The price of the solution can improve."
"We have not seen a reduction in our TCO nor have we seen ROI."
"The system has dual controllers but does not have a high level of resiliency built-in."
"I would like to have an easy way to determine the cost per VM so that I can present a solution to our customers."
"I would like to have integration into cloud providers, apart from HPE."
"The solution could improve by having more granularity. For example, having the ability to go deeper into specific IO channels or specific latency issues that can happen would be a benefit. HPE has this ability on their side but it would be useful to have it on our side."
"I don't think it is officially released yet, but the main reason that we chose Nimble is because of the sync rep feature. So, I would like to see that further evolve. This feature will be essential for our setups."
"HPE Nimble Storage could be improved with some critical application or servers."
"The amount of firmware updates released seem excessive."
"It was a bit expensive."
"An area that needs improvement is extending the life of the device after five years."
"I'd also like to see them incorporate tools that let me get granular with the VMs. I want to see an individual VM, I want to Snapshot and recover an individual VM."
"We cannot use this storage for critical applications and data."
"The price of the product is an area of concern. From an improvement perspective, the solution should be made more affordable in terms of price."
"I would like to see improved training offered with HPE Primera."
"Increasing the IOPS and throughput values would make the product even better. Improving the scalability of HPE Primera is also recommended."
"The product's stale snapshots feature needs improvement."
"They could work to make scalability easier."
"The file server embedded in Pure, the GUI, and the tracking and reporting features are better with Pure Storage."
"There really isn't any aspect of the solution that needs improvement for the customer other than its price."
