We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
Being able to use a Java-based solution makes the product flexible. The interface and the number of connectors that they provide are the most valuable features. The support here, it's kind of okay. But the main thing is with the number of connectors and the UI, the user interface. It has an open BPMIt allows me to present or to demonstrate the business process flow, visually, without having to resort to PowerPoint, Visio, or other products. The speed and execution of DMN was a big selling point for us. It's very good at conducting business processes that are easily modeled and presented in a way that's easy to understand. The solution is easily compatible with HTML forms and HTML language programming and that is the most significant part. When I compare it with other BPM tools, like IBM, it is great, open source, and free when you use the community version. The most valuable feature is the ability to share the logic within the rules engine with the business, so you can put it up for everybody to read.

We selected this solution not only for the BPM but for the entire package. The initial setup is straightforward. Our company is based around Oracle processes. It provides a lot of flexibility in its processes. The Workspace is a full, rich application where most users can find what they want. It shows them a list of their work. This solution has given us a quick time to market, the ability to integrate with the rest of the corporate applications, and the ability to hire talent in low-cost locations.

We could increase the transparency and speed for the new ERP introduction. The status and changes by the new system are now clear to everybody and it is a great tool to train the people. As a business transformation suite, Signavio offers a number of integrated helpful tools. The Process Modeler helps with the conceptual work, but is directly integrated with the components of the Workflow Accelerator (Automation) and the Process Intelligence (Mining). This makes Signavio an indispensable service package. This is one of the best solutions and it is easy to implement. The collaboration hub is good because it allows us to share the models that we've captured and to get comments back, and we don't all have to be in the same room, it can be remote and over time. The collaboration function in the project views is valuable because people can comment on the processes and we can respond. The most valuable feature is that you can customize it completely with all of the attributes that you need. This solution is innovative and simple to use. This product has helped us to work within standards for process planning.

Cons
The solution could use some enhancements like adding connectors, improving forms and having a mobile app, but everything is an enhancement rather than a flaw. The support definitely can be improved. Apart from that, the language should be extendable to other platforms. If I want to write, I'll run a different platform, like Python code on top of it, or COBOL code on top of it, and it should support those languages.Lacking in forms visualization. If there were some industry templates it would have helped significantly, because it is similar to a process map for a domain. That is what we are currently creating, a domain-relevant process map.Especially when you use the open-source version, there are issues with performance.I would also like a very easy to use form builder.I would like to have a feature for audit logging, audit logs and audit log management. And some history of use for the audit logs.I would like to see the forms engine available in the open-source version of this solution.

From my knowledge of this solution, I don't see that the Oracle BPM includes features such as the growth of discovery and process mining. The solution needs to offer better integration with third-party systems. We have had some issues with version migration, from one version of processes to another. We would have to call Oracle Services but on a day to day, we didn't have any issues.Overall, the engine and the UI both have to be made lighter.Existing APIs in the product need to be fine-tuned, made more robust and flexible for adoption.

There are some small graphical bugs, but they are addressed immediately by Signavio to their product development team.Signavio already offers a wonderful range of functions. If variant management and customer journeys are optimized, Signavio can definitely bask in the glory of BPM tools. We also see optimization potential in the management of licenses, e.g. no named users but rather floating licenses and integration into the company's active directory. The licensing model could be better. The performance metrics appearing in the collaboration hub needs to be improved.I would like to see the inclusion of some document management functionality so that we don't need to integrate with a second solution to accommodate this.We would like a better way to give users the correct permissions for processes, whether to view or design.I would like to see more integration with the process manager in terms of the workflow accelerator. There is always room for improvement is the capability of integration with other solutions.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The open-source version of the product is free to use.I use the open-source free version.Camunda is much cheaper. We are using the open-source version of this solution. It is less cost-prohibitive than other solutions on the market. This solution was in our price range.

It's pried high, this solution is expensive. The licensing model is good.

I think we're spending about $150,000 a year on licensing costs.I think that the price of the licenses is between $2,000 USD and $3,000 USD per license per year, plus the hub usage. I cannot remember the exact cost, but it is affordable. My client purchased one editor license and the collaboration hub, which covers up to a hundred people. This solution provides really great value for the money.Lower than the competition with highly flexible licensing plans.
