We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"When needed, we will work closely with Oracle support and implement their workaround in our application.""The dashboard interface is intuitive and the user is able to interact with it to receive good results from the analytic.""Ability to pull together multiple sources of information."

"The path of machine learning in classification and clustering is useful. The GUI can get you results. No programming is needed. No need to write down your script first or send to your model or input your data.""It doesn’t cost anything to use the product.""It is a stable product.""I like the machine algorithm for clustering systems. Weka has larger capabilities. There are multiple algorithms that can be used for clustering. It depends upon the user requirements. For clustering, I've used DBSCAN, whereas for supervised learning, I've used AVM and RFT.""With clustering, if it's a yes, it's a yes, if it's a no, it's a no. It gives you a 100% level of accuracy of a model that has been trained, and that is in most cases, usually misleading. Classification is highly valuable when done as opposed to clustering.""There are many options where you can fill all of the data pre-processing options that you can implement when you're importing the data. You can also normalize the data and standardize it in an easier way.""I mainly use this solution for the regression tree, and for its association rules. I run these two methodologies for Weka.""In Weka, anyone can access the program without being a programmer, which is a good feature since the entry cost is very low."

Cons
"There are some transactions we have not been able to find through the dashboard.""The performance, scalability and queries should be addressed, as well as the data distribution of certain data techniques.""Could use some refinement getting things that are not standard cloud applications, but more customized."

More Oracle Advanced Analytics Cons →

"Weka is a little complicated and not necessarily suited for users who aren't skilled and experienced in data science.""While it might offer insights for basic warehouse tasks, it falls short of deeper understanding and results.""A few people said it became slow after a while.""Within the basic Weka tool, I don't see many tools that are available where we can analyze and visualize the data that well.""The filter section lacks some specific transformation tools. If you want to change a variable from a numeric variable to a categorical variable, you don't have a feature that can enable you to change a variable from a numeric variable to a categorical variable.""In terms of scalability, I think Weka is not prepared to handle a large number of users.""Weka could be more stable.""Not particularly user friendly."

  • "The solution is free and open-source."
  • "As far as I know, Weka is a freeware tool, and I am not aware if they have an online solution or if it is a commercial product."

    Overview

Oracle Advanced Analytics 12c delivers parallelized in-database implementations of data mining algorithms and integration with open source R. Data analysts use Oracle Data Miner GUI and R to build and evaluate predictive models and leverage R packages and graphs. Application developers deploy Oracle Advanced Analytics models using SQL data mining functions and R. With the Oracle Advanced Analytics option, Oracle extends the Oracle Database to an sclable analytical platform that mines more data and data types, eliminates data movement, and preserves security to anticipate customer behavior, detect patterns, and deliver actionable insights. Oracle Big Data SQL adds new big data sources and Oracle R Advanced Analytics for Hadoop provides algorithms that run on Hadoop.

Weka is a collection of machine learning algorithms for data mining tasks. The algorithms can either be applied directly to a dataset or called from your own Java code. Weka contains tools for data pre-processing, classification, regression, clustering, association rules, and visualization. It is also well-suited for developing new machine learning schemes.
