Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I often say that PeopleSoft's greatest feature is how customizable it is.""Scales up very well.""The solution is easy to scale, expand and make bigger.""The time system is what we get the most benefit from.""Very stable in terms of performance and scalability.""The most valuable feature is IDE.""The feature that I have found most valuable is having the sources so that you're able to adapt the product to your needs. That was a big benefit.""I would recommend the solution. It's very stable and scalable, which makes it a reliable solution."

"I like UKG's integration.""It is much easier to use and the customer service is better than our previous solution.""The solution's UI is good. Also, it is very easy to use.""The solution has improved our organization by helping us cut hours and lessen our labor force. It saved us probably over $100,000 in just the last couple of years.""The employee self-service feature is most valuable. This is the restaurant industry, and they have a mobile app that allows employees to go in and manage their data. So, employees can manage direct deposit accounts, emergency contacts, and other things in the app. That's definitely the biggest benefit.""The fact that I can see the whole HR information in a single point is valuable. There is a unified view of everything, which is good. Previously, we had many different systems for each part of the information. Now, it is all centralized. It is very good.""The most valuable feature is being able to get time management reports which break out reclassified jobs and departments to separate areas of the company. This allows for better tracking of hours spent in certain jobs and where more hours may be needed.""I have found the most valuable feature to be business intelligence and Cognos reporting."

Cons
"The product is not intuitive, and finding the right candidate can be arduous.""PeopleSoft should be more flexible with the configuration. There should be less coding and more configuration.""Tools and UI could be enhanced.""On the other hand, the more recent push for standardization precludes customized approaches to certain industry requirements.""The implementation of PeopleSoft is quite complex and is not as easy as other cloud products such as SuccessFactor or Workday.""I would like to see better support, bug fixing, and documentation.""It would be helpful for the end-user if the reports were customized. They would be able to select the fields while generating their reports.""If there is another release, they should look at going to mobile computing to stay competitive."

More PeopleSoft Cons →

"One area where UKG could improve is in its ability to understand its own competency and then work hard to improve it.""Reporting is always a hurdle for any user just because it is so extensive. They provide a lot of out-of-the-box reports, but it is something that you always need to work on because you need more advanced writing of reports.""The navigation on the screen could be better. Sometimes, I have to dig a little bit deep to find what I need. Everything is there. It just needs to be a little bit smoother.""I would like the capability to use UKG as a single platform without the need to alternate between systems.""I would like to see more functionality in the next release to be able to get hours and dollars per calendar month rather than just by payroll in the Business Intelligence reports.""The solution could improve by simplifying it even more core reports, such as more sample reports, more generic reports that you can edit and improve on yourself.""The solution could use better reporting with standard reports. We use the Cognos platform in BI for a lot of our reporting. However, they need to have more robust standard reporting available to their user base.""UKG could be a little more flexible in some areas."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Check all options before a decision is made."
  • "It's approximately $3,000,000 to $4,000,000 USD per year."
  • "The licensing cost for PeopleSoft is 3,500 per course and the annual subscription fee is 6,500."
  • "I don't know if they are still providing licenses or if they have suspending licenses."
  • "There are no additional costs for licensing."
  • "We are a University and the cost and license are negotiated privately."
  • "The main issue we have with the solution is that it is very expensive."
  • "One of the cheapest solutions available and also one of the best."
  • More PeopleSoft Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I wasn't involved in the pricing part. I'm a user, and I believe it is based on the user count. One thing that is nice about Ultimate is that you can learn how to use the system without additional fees. The learning aspect is the life of a product, and the training was a huge reason why we went with Ultimate. We did have some integration costs. They were a part of the implementation because of the integrations to other systems that we included in our implementation."
  • "While I am unsure of the licensing cost itself, the total cost of implementation and licensing for a company with over 5000 employees would be around 6,00,000. So, there are additional costs beyond licensing."

PeopleSoft is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are that it has a lot of functionality and is customizable.

"PeopleSoft is a good core system. It has a lot of functionality. "They frequently update the solution and recently they have added some good enhancement features for higher education. We just switched to the new fluid interface and that is working very well for us. It is very good," says another reviewer who is an HR/Pay Systems Administrator/Director at a university.
