We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The initial setup is not very complex.""You can do a lot of things on the back end which are not possible in the other solutions on the market.""It's pretty easy to deploy.""This solution has simplified getting to and understanding our data, no matter where it is housed.""This is a very cool application with endless options of creativity and visuals.""On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL.""The language support is very good.""Our Qlikview applications help us to get a good idea of our Client Base Performance and assist us in the decision making for Seasonal Specials. On the other hand QlikView helps us to get a grasp on our Suppliers and helps us to negotiate pricing with them."

"It gives us the liberty to do more in terms of use cases.""It has virtual visualization, and other products do not.""This solution helps us increase our productivity.""It is easy to use, and easy to implement.""The client site login is pretty extensible and probably cost-effective.""It is very stable. We have not had any problems.""It has helped us look at modern technology, as well as penetrate our legacy systems, to see where the bottlenecks are.""The product is adept at log mining."

Cons
"The pricing is high.""It needs work with visualization.""Needs improvement with UI transparency.""I would want them to have more options as a user. It would be nice for them to create their own dashboards and add fields.""This solution would be improved with the inclusion of a feature that would allow us to add a common library of (our) commands used in load scripts and expressions, so with a keyword, we would get a drop down to select the command we are looking for, as opposed to the generic help.""I really wish the application was easier to use in the development phase.""If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlik view's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve.""There is no automation or drag and drop functionality."

More QlikView Cons »

"The Web Application Firewall will send you too much information because it's more dedicated to security than a normal firewall.""We had an instance when Splunk failed and it took us a couple of days to recover.""I would like to see ability to master management. In terms of clustering, how it manages clustering needs improvement.""I would like some additional AI capabilities to provide additional information about things going wrong and things going well.""If it could be made available as a service, this would be much better than as a product.""We would like more integrations with other cloud products, not just AWS, e.g., Azure.""There are new services which are coming up. If Splunk can catch up with the speed of Amazon, and with the integration, instead of us waiting for another year or so, that would be good.""The integration with all our tool sets felt like we were reinventing the wheel, which was a pain point for us."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The pricing is too high compared to the other solutions on the market.""It is not very expensive. I think it it is on par with other similar products on the market.""The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."

More QlikView Pricing and Cost Advice »

"I have no opinion on pricing.""I assume that the pricing is reasonable, because if it was too costly, there are other alternatives.""We have seen ROI and improvements as we have continued to use the product, but they are more reactive.""Splunk is not free.""It would be nice if the pricing were cheaper. However, we did purchase it.""We have had a reduction in the time it takes to resolve issues and correlate what has failed.""The pricing seems good relative to the other vendors that we have had here. However, they need to find ways to be more flexible with the licensing and be able to deal with situations where we start generating more logs. Maybe having some controls in the Splunk interface to turn it off, so we don't have to change anything in our application.""Some of the insights that we have obtained as a part of using Splunk have greatly helped us in increasing our revenue in terms of selling our products."

Comparison Review
Guillermo (Bill) Cabiro
I do use both Tableau and QlikView. Although very different, I really like both solutions. They belong to the new BI generation known as Interactive Visual Analytics. In my opinion, QlikView has a more intuitive interface for regular users or executives that are not technical experts but the development side is a little more complex. Up to version 12 QlikView did not provide drag & drop features. If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlikview's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve. On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL allowing the integration of hundreds of different data sources into the same visual app. Another feature that’s extremely useful is Qlik’s proprietary Associative Model that allows the users to visualize data relationships that exist as well as those that do not. Tableau on the other hand is a lot easier to use for developers, analysts or power users who need to connect, manipulate and visualize data rather quickly. While this makes Tableau a better fit for the more analytical crowd, it may not be as appealing or intuitive to the regular or casual business users as QlikView is. Tableau has full pivot, drag & drop and drill down capabilities that are great for developers or power users. They can rotate measures and dimensions and graph them instantly using visualization best practices as suggested by… Read more »
