We performed a comparison between OpenText SiteScope and Quest Foglight for APM [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic and others in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Observability."It's easy to template standard monitoring configurations, and automate monitoring configuration."
"The product's readymade templates are perfect. It supports us a lot when we don't have much experience with the product. The templates offers us direction to proceed."
"VM monitoring is pretty good showing good visualizations of how VMs are operating within the context of all the VMs running on the same hypervisor."
"It's integrated with different monitoring tools, such as AppDynamics."
"It can monitor over a 100 technologies with built-in solution templates."
"Infrastructure monitoring is the most valuable feature."
"There's no agent you need installed on the servers. In our environment, we have some servers out of our control so we cannot manage them. We use SiteScope to monitor the availability, the resources on the servers, etc. This allows us to do this job without installing agents so there's no need to take care of anything on the server."
"Has a simple setup. It can be up and running within hours."
"Sometimes we can solve problems before they occur."
"It provides a history of the activities on our SQL servers."
"Infrastructure Monitoring and End User Monitoring are the product’s most valuable features to me."
"Dell Foglight does analyze and optimize your virtual infrastructure. It definitely reduces operational cost."
"Real time database monitoring and alerting are valuable."
"The most valuable feature is drill-down monitoring, which shows us from one interface the transaction chain from the front end to back end."
"With the APM you can replay the end user session and see issues quickly by viewing the session."
"FxV is valuable as we can playback the session."
"In terms of issues with Micro Focus SiteScope, some that we've run into were unintended, for example, extra executions of monitors and some false alerts when there were problems connecting to endpoints or there were issues with the application that sometimes resulted in false positives. We had a few issues with the way time zones were configured when the system time differed from the time indicated during the monitoring, but those were just little things that weren't too bad. As far as the limitations of Micro Focus SiteScope, the types of scripting files that can be executed are rather limited unless you go to some third-party plugins. These are the areas for improvement in the solution."
"It could be more reliable using a database repository instead of a log repository."
"SiteScope isn't productive if you want to monitor RAM or if you want to monitor some URL."
"We'd like a uniform interface for monitoring our system, since that's the purpose of SiteScope."
"Direct integration with an SMS gateway for sending critical alerts to the support SME. This will help customer investing in third party middleware solutions for SMS."
"The graphs and dashboard in the solution are areas that need improvement."
"Micro Focus Voltage SiteScope could improve by adding more features, such as cloud, APM, and DevOps monitoring."
"They have not kept up with browser security requirements or advances in GUIs, they switched to a corruptible database architecture instead of text config files."
"I want to see mobile access application in the next release."
"The “cartridge” concept for every little thing is a bit of a bother to implement."
"The version compatibility needs work."
"I want to see a new interface that contains HTML5 features. The current version of Foglight (on-premise edition) is so fusty in comparison with leaders of Gartner APM Quadrant - i.e. Appdynamics, NewRelic, Dynatrace."
"Being able to incorporate other bespoke monitoring into Foglight would have made the tool even more useful."
"I think installation and setup needs little more improvement especially when you are installing with external database."
"I would perhaps like to see more SSMS connections."
"They need to improve the stability of FxM and FxV."
