We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is a very scalable solution.""The most useful feature is the one-click recovery.""It is a stable solution.""A very high level security environment for secondary data.""The solution is very cost effective.""I have used the BMR (Bare Metal Restore) in several emergencies and it has absolutely saved my bacon.""I like this product because it is easy to use.""The solution offers good documentation."

"It is a stable solution.""Veeam helps to create a stable environment with virtual servers.""A full-featured option for managing virtual machines with an instant recovery feature.""It is easy to deploy.""The most valuable feature is that it's a VMware environment.""The most valuable feature is the ease of use.""It is good and easy to use for backing up physical servers. Cons
"Quorum OnQ's user interface is not very attractive and should be made more attractive.""There seems to be a lack of technicians. Sometimes they are very busy and I don't hear back for a day or two. The technicians they have are great. They are fantastic, but it seems difficult, at times, to get in contact with anyone.""I paid for subscription of Firewall. I paid for subscription of endpoint protection. Thet should introduce single subscription for all services.""I would really like it if they followed comparable products from other vendors and had an option where you could offload to tape. I know it sounds incredibly antiquated, but the benefit I see is that there would be a better air gap than you have with backing up to an online source.""It would be beneficial if file culling could be more granular.""One thing that could be done to improve it would be a single pane of glass for doing disaster recovery testing, where I could have remote consoles in one place... I still have to go to each location in a browser and then bring up the console. I'd like to see them integrate that into a single pane of glass so I don't have to go to each server.""I would like to see iSCSI support added so that NAS storage servers could be protected. We heavily utilize NAS storage and the risk there is minimal backup options. Currently, we are backing up NAS to NAS which is costly and slow. Being able to integrate NAS server backup would be the last item on my Quorum bucket list.""I don't love the scheduler, as I think that interface could use an overhaul."

More Quorum OnQ Cons →

"If you are doing an AIX backup then you have to use the CLI because it doesn't appear on the console, the way that Windows and Linux jobs do.""Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows should improve by having more features, easier deployment, and compatibility with Unix boxes.""I would like to have more flexibility in terms of reporting details about the backup.""It fulfills our needs in terms of features. In terms of improvements, they can maybe improve its documentation.""If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better.""I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers.""While the Veeam agent is perfect, sometimes the agent doesn't install in Windows.""I would like to see the ability for incremental backups and reverse backups."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We have never questioned whether it is worth it because it so obviously is a great value."
  • "When we first got the Quorum the licensing was different."
  • "The cost is higher than other software and services, but it is an absolute must-have."
  • "The total for our current solution's licensing is about $14,000 for 12 servers for three years."
  • "The pricing is about $1,400 a month. It's a little bit on the higher side. But it's one of those situations where time is valuable for me. So if it costs a little bit more money for me to have a solution that just works and requires less of my day-to-day management, I'm willing to pay a little bit more."
  • "The initial expenditure for us was a little under $40,000 for the recent renewal. For the first three years after that, other than electricity, there's no cost. After that, their support contract has to be renewed annually. We spent close to $6,000, between the two offices, for support."
  • "When we quote the price of Quorum to customers, they find it expensive."
  • "The upfront cost of purchasing a license for the hardware is quite steep."
  • More Quorum OnQ Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
  • "There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
  • "We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
  • "The pricing is good."
  • "The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
  • "The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
  • "We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
