We performed a comparison between Reduxio [EOL] and Veeam Backup & Replication based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Zerto, Commvault and others in Backup and Recovery."One of the beautiful parts about it is the whole user interface. It's almost too simple. As an IT professional, you think, "Where are the works, how am I assured that this is actually protecting my data?" The ease of use in terms of deployment, and also the metrics that it feeds back to you are also among the many attractive features of the whole platform."
"The machine installed without difficulty."
"Efficiency of data management (Tier-X tiering, and NoDup inline dedupliclation and compression) provide for quick response time (+150k IOPS) during regular usage."
"With only a few clicks, I can provision or modify storage."
"The always-on deduplication and compression is also effective and allows us to achieve about 3x savings on space utilization."
"The Reduxio box has improved our resiliency and management overhead."
"The down-to-the-second restore capability, native to the device is a valuable feature."
"Flexibility and frequency of restore points: allow me to economically customize the range of time for data restoration, according to the varying sensitivities of each type of data."
"The restore capabilities are the most valuable features."
"Veeam is highly scalable. In one scenario, we started with 2,000 users and scaled up to 24,000."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"No problems with stability."
"I'm satisfied with tech support, because the solution is so stable that I haven't had the need to engage any of the engineers yet."
"Veeam Backup Replication has good performance and can do location-to-location backups. Additionally, it is user-friendly and easy to manage."
"My customers find the backup and recovery ease of use is the most beneficial feature."
"I have found the most valuable feature to be the new CDP features. It is very popular for my customer's needs."
"The only critique that we have is it needs the ability to have local users added. You have to log in as one built-in admin account. You can't create your own."
"Needs some hooks into cloud storage for backup. Also they should update the system to use additional secondary storage as a resource."
"It would be nice feature if the GUI had an option to export the current unit configuration to a file or an email recipient. In case of a disaster, this way it would be quicker to get a replacement unit up and running again."
"The latest release limits web access to the admin console via Chrome only, and that's a bit of a hassle. Would definitely prefer something less restrictive there."
"We had a brief hiccup, a brief outage, during one upgrade process, but it wasn't too extreme."
"The only thing that I would point out would be the basic administration management of the machine. Everything has rights, meaning that there's either all control or no delegated control. So to sum that up, it would be a feature request for delegated management in the administrative console."
"Scalability is a little unusual. We came from the NetApp world where, if you needed more disk space, you just added more drives into the chassis, whereas with Reduxio, if you need more disk space, you have to buy a new chassis."
"There is only thing I can think of at the moment, that would be detailed printable reports."
"I cannot recall coming across any features that were lacking."
"The price can be better."
"We would like to see support for some additional storage systems."
"In terms of what could be improved, when creating a backup job with Veeam, you can create a daily backup, but it doesn't do it within that job. It does not give you the ability to also set the terms for monthly and/or weekly backups. It has to be a separate job. It gets clunky to manage the timeframes where you don't want a daily to run on this day and creating weeklies. And you don't want a daily to run on this day doing monthlies. That is hard to deal with. It would be really nice if you could do it through a single command line or a single interface."
"I think Veeam needs to improve the file installation process, as well as more technical things like snapping feature issues. Sometimes during backup, when it's taking the scan snaps on the ESXi, it started and didn't remove the snapshot from there, which consumed storage on the EXSi. It could be improved with more technical depth. The response time for Veeam's technical support could also be improved."
"The deduplication feature could be improved by changing to global deduplication."
"I like the Acronis backup solutions on the block-based part of backups. That is a functionality that Veeam does not provide."
"I would like to have them come up with more robust features when it comes to individual endpoint protection."
