We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has improved our business continuity.""It was very difficult to find a product that supports Red Hat Virtualization natively and to take a snapshot of the VM or a full backup or a dump from the machine. The option that Vembu proposed, to take the machine as an image, take it from the system, is also good.""The initial setup is easy and very nice.""Backup of the VMware server is the most valuable feature.""You can restore all your data or partial parts of it. You can restore a specific version of the data. It has a lot of options for restore, so you can have the correct data that you want to restore. This is very important. You must know what you are going to restore. Otherwise, you may be overwriting correct data with other data. You must know what specific files you are restoring as well as which version. Partial restore is very important because there might be some files which are newer than the backup and some files that are corrupted. You need to restore some files from the backup, but not all the files.""Quick backup and restore; very simple and understandable interface.""Adding and removing backup jobs using BDRSuite is easy and also includes great documentation.""We are now using it 24/7 because it is serving as an online backup, and very soon, the DR will activated on the product."

"Any time I have needed anything, from a simple question to someone to be onsite, the customer service has been exceptional.""We are getting 4.4:1 data reduction, which means we will be able to squeeze over 120TB into 2U. This is more than enough capacity for us.""We love the fact that we do not have to worry about ransomware and can rollback to any point in time.""Most storage arrays when you buy them, they call it a "forklift upgrade," where a forklift comes in there and pulls out the old storage, and brings in a new storage. But with Reduxio, it can use all your old storage arrays, whether they're NetApp, or IBM, or EMC, or HPE, as targets for doing backups.""The HTML5 UI is clean, easy to navigate, and very intuitive.""The down-to-the-second restore capability, native to the device is a valuable feature.""I like the Reduxio TimeOS, specifically. That feature's pretty good. I haven't seen it in any other product. They're the only ones who have it.""The TimeOS support and I/O performance. For instance, recovery of data from any point in time, and the speed of the unit, are incredible compared to other devices we reviewed."

Cons
"The API uses a common data image to store the data for the sets, but unfortunately, it's limited to consecutive sets only. That's the only limitation I have observed so far.""In the beginning, when we had some hiccups, I would chalk that up more to a learning curve for the product.""The dashboard should more interactive.""It would be a great improvement if they can give a console to control the systems. All other vendors let you simply log in to the cloud console and control everything from there, but for Vembu, whether you choose Vembu Cloud Backup or Vembu Disaster Recovery, you still need to install the Vembu software on your on-premise system and configure it from there. It would be great if I can get a cloud console to manage the systems.""We are still exploring its features, but we want to see more features that we desire over time.""The only place where I would really want to see improvement, out the gate, is more granular scheduling... If I want to do an offset or to only do two backups on Friday and Saturday - versus whole hourly incrementals during the week - I don't have that granularity right now.""I have seen that the BDRSuite user interface can be less intuitive and more challenging to navigate compared to other similar products.""There's a feature that does syncing with AWS Cloud backup online. It's not that straightforward to get it set up."

More BDRSuite Cons →

"We had a single failure of the device but believe that it was tied to the server losing contact with our NTP server due to DNS issues. As Reduxio is very time-dependent, losing sync made the entire array unstable.""Maybe it should come in stainless steel, just like its DeLorean time machine predecessor.""There is only thing I can think of at the moment, that would be detailed printable reports.""If Reduxio could manage multiple Reduxio systems within the same dashboard, or manage them as a single mode, it be very, very helpful for us.""I am waiting on a feature set in the new version which should allow me to replicate between Reduxio iSCSI SANs for disaster recovery and also to 3rd party iSCSI SANs which are cheaper for an archive or DR target.""t would be helpful to have a mobile app to monitor the storage array remotely.""the only thing I would say negative about Reduxio is the cabling was a little bit confusing at first, but now that we understand it, it's easy. It was just so different from what we've seen before. That was the only hard part to get used to. The storage array is fully redundant, so there are some cross-connect cables that you have to run, from the A side to the B side, and the B side back to the A side, and we've just never seen anything like that before. But now that I understand the design, it makes complete sense. But initially it was confusing.""Would love to have role-based access and an active directory integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The product's pricing is a good value. Vembu is cost-effective versus using VMware Essentials. Regarding licensing, make sure you find the right workstation or server that you're going to install it on, and know the number of sockets it has, since the price depends on that."
  • "It is very cost efficient, effective. I’d say it's one-third the cost of Veritas when compared to the server backups. I even tried image backups on Acronis, but Acronis is very expensive. So these are some of the key reasons why I opted for it."
  • "We were able to take advantage of a promotional pricing campaign."
  • "The pricing structure is in line with other solutions. However, the option to replicate offsite to a unit at another office or at home is a big cost benefit. Instead of paying monthly for cloud storage, you replicate offsite for free."
  • "Pricing is fair enough. What was not clear enough in the documentation on the website was that that you're licensing per CPU socket and you are only licensing on the restore sockets, not the backup sockets. It's a bit technical, but it was very well explained during the demonstration that we had during the evaluation period."
  • "I prefer the way Vembu is licensed. When you look at Veeam or any other product, they price per node. Vembu is licensed per host. You just buy a host license and it backs up unlimited VMs within that host. The others charge per VM."
  • "Vembu is too expensive because they don't really have small-business pricing. This is a matter of personal opinion. They're going to tell you that they have competitive pricing because there are more expensive solutions in the marketplace, but there are better solutions in the marketplace that are more expensive. Their product is a better fit for small businesses, but they don't price it that way."
  • "The product's pricing is of good value. It was much more affordable than the alternative solution to it, which was Veeam. That would be the closest competitor, and between those two, Vembu was much more affordable. It seemed reasonable for what we needed to do."
  • More BDRSuite Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Setup and licensing are included in the solution cost."
  • "They have very competitive pricing and were able to work within our budget constraints as a public school."
  • "They are very competitive in pricing, so I would definitely recommend Reduxio."
  • "For less money than my previous solution, I receive way more performance and backup features that far surpass anything on the market."
  • "All of their new features that were released following our purchase are free of charge. For example, we are about to upgrade getting cloud integration for free."
  • "Depending on your cost of data loss, one ransomware or accidental deletion could pay for a Reduxio appliance."
  • "It was the best price for capacity and speed on a hybrid array I could find."
  • "I think it is worth the value."
