Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The solution is very user-friendly.""For me, the most valuable features are good integration with the customer's existing network and the ease of deployment and configuration. Ruckus products are also easy to learn to manage and deploy for not only our own staff, but also for the IT workers in the customer's organization.""The solution has many innovative features.""In my experience, Ruckus devices are much more reliable than other vendors when it comes to consistency, coverage, and client density. Ruckus is very simple to configure and troubleshoot.""I can manage the network through a cell phone, which is a plus from my side. I am also able to visualize the network. I can also check the quality of the signal for different clients that are currently connected and see whether the quality is excellent, moderate, or poor. Sometimes, I can even adjust the signal strength.""The product has good technical support and offers excellent documentation.""The product is extremely easy to manage after it is implemented.""Very reliable."

"All of the interfacing is very good.""The solution is very easy to install.""The solution is scalable.""The pricing is very competitive and the feature sets are very good. It compares well against more expensive options.""Ubiquiti provides good connectivity for the end-user, so I think it's stable.""You can save backups of this controller locally and then I can export it to wherever I want.""The most valuable feature is the level of security on the Wi-Fi network.""I have found Ubiquiti WLAN scalable. We have approximately 200 users using the solution in my organization and do not plan to increase usage."

Cons
"They have so many products that there are so many different part numbers for the US and other countries. That means it's easy to make a mistake with the licensing. You have to have somebody knowledgeable on the other end with the licensing. If you make one mistake, it can be a $2,000 mistake.""What would be interesting to see is if they had more of an ability for their customers to capture revenue. They should offer some sort of gateway functionality that you could tie through radius authentication, so you can bill the customers. That way, when you go in, you could just have a device and set up a hotspot, and it's a totally billable tool at that point.""We've had issues with the ISP, not enough bandwidth.""Its security can be improved. It doesn't use Wireless IPS. Therefore, we have to combine WatchGuard that uses a Wireless IPS but is a separate solution. These two solutions work in conjunction. We are using the WatchGuard as a sensor and Wireless IPS, and Ruckus is like a platform that is used for the connectivity of the network.""The price could be improved.""I have not got any major problem using Ruckus, but the price and technical support could be better.""Could be more user friendly.""The pricing needs to be more competitive. They need to re-examine their business model and see if there is a way to provide their service at a cheaper cost."

"The strength of the signal from the access points could be improved.""I have found they need to work on the stability of the solution.""The solution is stable but could improve.""Switching devices requires reconfiguration from scratch.""The solution could improve by having a cloud version. A cloud version is the easiest to configure anywhere in the world.""Ubiquiti lacks troubleshooting tools. For example, there aren't tools that your clients can use to gather input on the AP itself. There's no visibility in the application layer or reporting. It doesn't have a lot of management features.""The downside is the interface changes, where they are constantly doing firmware updates.""The coverage could be increased."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"If you walk into any restaurant or hotel you will find Ruckus Wireless solutions because it is economical when it comes to pricing. There is a basic subscription for the license and support.""The price is reasonable.""It is a pricey solution.""We have a yearly license for our multiple mode 200 or 300 Ruckus Wireless systems. It's a good price.""Ubiquiti and Aruba Instant On are good for small businesses in terms of cost than Ruckus Wireless.""Ruckus is an expensive solution.""Not all of our clients can afford a fully corporate solution like Ruckus. But for many of our clients, pricing is the only factor that prevents them from choosing Ruckus, as we have found Ruckus to be a very suitable and reliable solution for integrating wireless access points to a company's network.""It is decently priced."
