Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the seamless integration with backend systems.""It provides essential features such as continuous monitoring of all interfaces are crucial for our needs.""Great monitoring tools and has its own alert framework.""The most valuable features of SAP Process Orchestration are the standard APIs that we can use.""SAP Process Orchestration is middleware where we are able to manage and interact with everything from a single location. One of the most beneficial areas is monitoring which is very easy because it is all in one place. There are many adapters added recently that can be used for new functionality. The solution is easy to operate and it is more mature than the cloud solution provided by SAP.""The monitoring tools are the most valuable feature.""The solution is easy to use.""The solution offers very good documentation and manuals to assist with understanding the solution."

"The OSGI console is available to debug different issues and get low level informations on the applications development, like bundle, dependencies, etc.""The most valuable part of the solution is the ease-of-use and ease of deployment.""It is a seamless and sophisticated tool.""Good performance and reliability.""Customer support is very efficient.""It is very stable. It is a market leader, and it has connectors to many of the legacy systems. It also has enterprise cloud connectors.""One of the most valuable features is that it's a simple development. It takes a short time to get services to work.""XML to JSON transformations, out-of-the-box, helps to build REST services."

Cons
"Its administration management feature needs to be simpler to use.""I think the main area that SAP PO should improve on is offering pre-delivered content like they do when you use SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI). SAP should not forget that they still have a lot of customers using Process Orchestration and they should focus more on providing pre-delivered content in SAP PO.""The solution could be more scalable.""Process Orchestration doesn't provide authentication for data sent to us, meaning we have to rely on client certificate-based or basic authentication.""It requires some maintenance.""The older version of the solution will no longer be supported.""The solution could improve by making it more user-friendly by limiting the code required. We have to add some code in some cases where we need complex logic or some other functions. If this was able to be done in a more simplified manner then it would save a lot of effort and time.""It would be beneficial to enhance the ease of implementing new projects and improve overall stability in our implementations."

"The Business Studio tool can be improved, which is the tool for designing the processes. Improving the Business Studio tool will make this solution more stable. It has a steep learning curve, and it is pretty tough to learn.""The cost has room for improvement.""Improve Business Studio's stability to further minimize development time.""Technical support is average. It's not the best.""The cost of the solution has room for improvement.""A possible improvement could be to give the capability to use different profiles for each AppNode when an application is deployed on an AppSpace.""Scaling with the solution is costly because if we need to scale up, we have to buy more memory. That means more money. Solutions like Camel or Pulsar come with built-in options to scale horizontally, vertically, region-wide or country-wide.""Cloud fitness is lacking"

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The cost of SAP products is quite high but the quality is really good."
  • "The pricing for this solution is fine."
  • "There are fees in addition to the licensing."
  • "It's not an expensive solution."
  • "Looking at market conditions, vendors nowadays are giving products at very low price levels. However, SAP Process Orchestration have not yet reduced their prices. The prices could be reduced a lot to stay competitive."
  • "The license is a one-time payment, and additional costs are only incurred on the infrastructure side since it's an on-premise solution."
  • "The price of SAP Process Orchestration was reasonable."
  • "The fee for maintenance is costly."

  • "My understanding is that the licensing is very costly."
  • "It is a bit expensive for medium-sized companies. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The existing licensing will not work because the product platform itself is different."
  • "Its price policy has changed quite a lot in the last two years. It was extremely expensive previously. Nowadays, you can buy a license for BusinessWorks for €2000. Looking at what you get in return in terms of support, TIBCO community, and stability, it is fairly reasonable. It is not too expensive."
  • "I think BusinessWorks is more expensive compared to other products. We have the ELA, so at least we have some sort of bargain or discount with that. But for a start-up, it's very expensive compared to other ESBs."
  • "Licensing scheme is too rigid"
  • "I don't have the prices of the products, but I know that TIBCO is not a cheap solution. I think that this solution is more suitable for large companies because I don't think that small- or medium-sized companies would have the money for this solution. WSO2 has the community version for free, so many of the smaller companies can use it. I'm not sure what the prices are for support, though, so I suppose the support for WSO2 is not cheap either."
  • "The solution is too expensive. It's one of the most expensive solutions out there, particularly because there are so many open-source competitors on the market. I don't know the exact numbers, however."
  • "I give the cost of the solution a four out of ten."

    Overview
SAP NetWeaver Process Integration facilitates the integration of business processes that span different departments, organizations, or companies. SAP PI is based on general standards so as to enable 3rd-party systems to be integrated. At the center of SAP PI is an XML-based communication that uses HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol). Irrespective of the scenario used, the application-specific contents are transferred in messages in user-defined XML eXtensible Markup Language) from the sender to the receiver either via the Integration Server, or directly between the systems involved. SAP PI can be installed in different ways: Dual usage type installation: Based on both AS ABAP and AS Java. and Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX): Based on AS Java only.
TIBCO BusinessWorks allows to connect applications, whether on-premises or in the cloud, providing proven reliability and scalability, out-of-the-box. With a drag-and-drop graphical development environment, TIBCO BusinessWorks eliminates the pain and cost of point-to-point application integration, connecting and unifying business processes across applications, data sources, and APIs, with access to real-time data across all your platforms.
