Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing and licensing are horrible. You have to not look at dollar value to use SCCM. It's super-duper expensive but it works. The acquisition cost is expensive, it's labor-intensive. But it works."
  • "Pricing and licensing are a downside of SCCM. It's expensive. I'd have to confirm this, but I think they changed the licensing to core-based instead of socket-based. It's not cheap, because you have to buy the software, you have to buy SQL. Another thing we learned from talking to Microsoft is that they provide you a license for SQL if you run it on the same box as the primary server. If you run it outside that box, you have to buy SQL. Microsoft does recommend you running it on the same box because of performance. But then, in order to run SQL, SCCM, and everything on the same box, you better have some resources. It's an expensive solution. There's no doubt about it."
  • "Overall, I think it's fine. It's pretty much in-line because there are ways to offset it with the Office 365 licensing."
  • "SCCM comes with its own version of SQL Server. If you use that SQL Server with SCCM and don't use it for another applications than you get an SQL Server for free."
  • "The licensing is good because they have various options, depending on what you are looking for."
  • "Pricing is negotiable with Microsoft, depending upon which of their packages you choose."
  • "When you compare this solution with other tools in the market you might actually find a lot of variation in the pricing and that's why people opt for the other tools rather than Microsoft tools."
  • "Its price is okay because it is part of our licensing."

    Infrastructure Monitoring Benefits

    • Resolve production issues fast and easily.
Get a complete picture of your distributed applications from end-to-end, so you can spot bottlenecks, and resolve production issues as quickly as possible. Detect anomalies and received alerts for latencies, error rates, or throughput. Get support for fully distributed applications and transaction tracing. Understand true application architecture with real-time service maps.

    • Streamline metrics and logs in one, unified view.
Monitor and troubleshoot faster with a single dashboard that can include metrics and event logs for application and server logs, alerts, anomalies, and much more, so you can monitor and troubleshoot, and get to the root cause in minutes. Find similar patterns with built-in correlation.

    • Alerting system that's got your back.
Alert on metrics and logs. It's simple: run a query, save it as an alert query, optionally select additional notification hooks like Slack, PagerDuty, etc... Use query filters to narrow down on logs you really want to alert on – e.g. severity:ERROR. Use threshold-based alerts if you have specific thresholds and get notified when the number of logs hits the threshold. Use anomaly detection to be alerted on sudden abnormalities in your logs and let statistical algorithms find abnormal log counts.

    • Simple agent installation, zero maintenance.
Monitor your infrastructure and centralize all of your logs with a simple agent installation. Copy, paste, and you're done. Sematext now has your logs, is monitoring your infrastructure, and has set up alerts for you already.

    • 100+ cloud-ready integrations
It's easy to collect and analyze metrics and events across your entire stack with numerous integrations. Simply maintain a real-time view of your enterprise or cloud infrastructure while collecting and reporting metrics and events. Slice and dice by a number of context-aware filters.

    • By DevOps, for DevOps.
Custom Metrics? APIs? We’ve got 'em! Open HTTP APIs let you ship Custom Metrics from your apps. Capture and send app, business, and other event data. Use open-source metrics libraries for Java, Ruby, and Node.js, and automate alerts with APIs
