SCOM has improved our organization by simplifying the monitoring process. The system tells you what the bi-weekly or monthly usage was and that enables us to report this information to the manager. It shows if there was a connectivity issue that needs to be fixed and it's easier to concentrate on what needs to get fixed. System errors, therefore, get fixed faster.
The solution is scalable. If you want to monitor more you have to buy more licenses, but you can add on. We don't plan to increase usage.

The solution's most valuable features are PerfStack, AppStack and AppInsight.
One of the most valuable features are the reports. They're pretty good. Also, the ease of installation and customization for the client is another feature that we value. SolarWinds has a lot of features but these are the ones I like the most. We also like that the KPIs have the ability to be preset.
There are many valuable features, including the network configuration manager, and the network performance manager.
Then there is also an issue with capacity and limited space. That is something that needs to be improved.
Of course, price is always an issue with Microsoft and could be improved.
It lacks certain details that other products do better, like granular access and better application monitoring.
All of the areas of reporting are very bad and need to be improved.
The end-user components, including the dashboards, the administration console, and the web console, need to be improved.
The console feature is very poor, and it would be very good for us if this were improved.
On-prem network monitoring is something that could be improved drastically.
I would like to see better support for monitoring Unix-based systems.
The templates could use improvement. Currently, they are quite complex. They should have drag-and-drop functionality instead. It would make it easier to use.
This product has no real downside unless they fail to continue development of its capabilities.
When you implement SolarWinds on a larger scale my customers complain about the speed.
It would be helpful if the solution could integrate more with the security compliances, like this IDSS, etc.
Some custom applications cannot be monitored, and a lot more applications need to be included.
The solution should implement something like a network configuration manager, or some baseline for server configuration. Many of my customers need a recommendation for server configuration. Implementing that as a feature would be perfect for them.
They should incorporate more artificial intelligence. There should also be more predictive features.
The setup was complex. We had local support to assist us.

If you have a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, then this is part of the agreement.
Our licensing fees are approximately $30 per user, per month.
Pricing is inexpensive, starting at 2440 euros. For that, you get the ability to monitor a couple of nodes and one year of maintenance and support.
The licenses start from USD 3000.00 and go up to USD 20,000.00 for the year. It's a perpetual license. Nothing is free in SolarWinds, anything that you need is an additional cost.
The product might cost you $30,000 USD to buy, but scaling this solution requires the purchase of additional polling engines at $20,000 USD each.
