Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The most valuable feature is the extensibility, as there are really no limits as to what you can do with it.It is a user-friendly product that requires almost no maintenance. The most valuable feature is the monitoring of Windows and Linux servers. The advantages of SCOM are that it is definitely user friendly and a more appropriate solution for what we need.Availability monitoring is the feature I have found most valuable, as well as the capacity and ability to send notifications.SCOM has improved our organization by simplifying the monitoring process. The system tells you what the bi-weekly or monthly usage was and that enables us to report this information to the manager. It shows if there was a connectivity issue that needs to be fixed and it's easier to concentrate on what needs to get fixed. System errors, therefore, get fixed faster. The solution is scalable. If you want to monitor more you have to buy more licenses, but you can add on. We don't plan to increase usage. This is a product that does more generally than any of the competing solutions.

Great quality of sound, quality of pics and video. The flexible licensing model is one of the solution's most valuable aspects. It really allows for great flexibility for companies.Zabbix is both stable and scalable. The best thing about Zabbix is the integration and the APIs that are included are very fastThe integration capabilities and APIs are the best part. The most valuable feature is the alert and alarm monitoring. We detect problems before the customer does and before it actually happens using the predictive functions in Zabbix. The implementation process is very straightforward.

Cons
The interface is a little bit cumbersome and certain actions could be simplified. It would be a much better product if Microsoft provided management packs with the product. The dashboard features are not user-friendly for our management team, only for the technical department.I would like more customized reports. People should have some customization option on the dashboards for whenever they put multiple lists into it. Beyond customizing the content, there should be the ability to customize the colors so that they can engage some priority and mark challenges separately. In terms of features that could be improved, I would say the agent integration into the operating system. We are having difficulties integrating Linux into some of the networking devices. Then there is also an issue with capacity and limited space. That is something that needs to be improved.Of course, price is always an issue with Microsoft and could be improved. It lacks certain details that other products do better, like granular access and better application monitoring.

Price is a little high. The documentation could be improved. For us, the initial setup was complexThe only improvement I would suggest, revolves around its AI and ML capabilities. If Zabbix had a better dashboard then it would be nice.I would like to see a more flexible mobile client, and better HA out of the box.The server monitoring could be better. The main problem with Zabbix is that you have to spend time writing templates for all of the products that you have.

Pricing and Cost Advice
SCOM is part of the System Center suite and I am satisfied with the pricing. It is more expensive than the competition. If you have a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, then this is part of the agreement. Our licensing fees are approximately $30 per user, per month.
