We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The human capital management module is valuable.""SAP NetWeaver is doing its job, and it performs well. In the last year, I have not had any problems with it.""We can use different transaction codes to check the performance of the system, and if we are unable to access a particular transaction, we can still check the table to see what is happening.""It provides an efficient integration framework with other SAP products.""What's most valuable in SAP NetWeaver is the integration. That's been very helpful because the company has one thousand five hundred interfaces running, so integration has been the most significant factor. I've also seen many improvements in the SAP NetWeaver user experience, where users can have reports delivered to mobile devices.""The flexibility and the customizability this solution has when adapting to our business requirements is a huge benefit.""It is the central point for all our data storage. We have one single version of the truth that we can communicate to all our customers.""I like that I don't need any extra tools to keep the solution up and running."

"This is very user-friendly.""Once you get it set up, everything is smooth, and the recovery is excellent.""For virtualization it's perfect.""I'm satisfied with tech support, because the solution is so stable that I haven't had the need to engage any of the engineers yet.""Its simplicity and the fact that it just works are most valuable. We kind of set it up and generally forget about it. It does what we need it to do in the background, and it doesn't involve a lot of management.""No problems with stability.""Instant Backup is an useful feature.""The WAN accelerator feature has been the most valuable for me. That feature reduced the time needed to complete the task from 25 days to less than a week! This is compared with the original tools used: ntbackup, robocopy and Windows Server Backup."

Cons
"SAP NetWeaver it's still complex for a normal user unless you memorize those action codes.""SAP isn't particularly user-friendly and you have to develop a long list of favorites to be able to get around.""It can always improve. It should have the ability to connect with other databases. It was a little bit tough to do that. I would like to have the ability to research certain markets and then integrate it with NetWeaver. I'd like to compare it with other databases from other companies being used in the world so we can integrate it with our own products to compare if we are still current on the market.""The initial setup is a little complex. The users are not able to install the prerequisite drivers or are not able to follow the SOP because they don't have access to SAP Logon. If users already have access, it will take seven to 10 days to deploy the solution. If they do not, it may take a maximum of 25 to 30 days.""The product documentation can be improved.""Though SAP NetWeaver has been pretty stable and mature, some issues arose after some customizations, so that's an area for improvement.""It needs more improvement in terms of user-friendliness. SAP wasn't user-friendly at all.""Technical support response time was slow."

More SAP NetWeaver Cons →

"If they could add more support for all of the modern hypervisors, that would make Veeam much better and more flexible to work with. For example, there is no solution for VM to VM replication when it comes to Oracle OEM servers.""There is always some room for improvement, especially with some of the different technologies such as DB2. Commvault has a DB2 agent, but Veeam still doesn't have it. We have to use the universal one for it.""When in a domain, the virus can easily attack the Veeam server, something which happened to us.""The whole graphical user interface is very easy, but the details are hidden deeply and aren't easily visible. You cannot easily see the details and explore or choose the settings. We should be able to easily explore various settings and options. If you can see more details while choosing the settings or setting it up, it helps in getting the software running easily. For example, in Microsoft Office, you can see much more in the interface than in Veeam Backup & Replication. It is a complex software. It is not easy to use, and you must know what to do and where to do. The user manual has more than a thousand pages. They should give some direct information through the software and improve the software. On their website, they can have some videos and step-by-step information to make us come straight to our goals.""The price could be lower.""Add an archive option to support legal obligations.""The integration with other solutions should be improved.""Immutability could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's a very expensive solution."
  • "The licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
  • "SAP NetWeaver requires a license, but I'm not sure how the licenses and payments were coordinated."
  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the pricing a nine to ten since it is an expensive solution."

  • "If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
  • "The pricing and licensing is better than the competitors, but it could be better."
  • "Room for improvement is actually more in the way of licensing. The really good and useful features are in the Enterprise plus edition, and that one is really expensive."
  • "Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along."
  • "The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment."
  • "The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
  • "I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive."
  • "Setup cost and licensing of Veeam are nothing to complain about when compared to similar products for enterprise backup recovery solutions."

    Reviews from Real Users

Veeam Backup & Replication is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are its ease of set up, the fact that it is agentless, and that it has an intuitive dashboard.

A Network Operations Manager at an educational organization says, "Integration with VMware is excellent with very granular recovery."

An Inside Solutions Architect at a tech services company mentions, “I like that it's agent-less, easy to set up, and hardware-agnostic.”

An Account Manager at a tech services company states, “The dashboard is very, very easy to understand. We do demonstrations all the time with customers just to show them. If they've lost particular files because of a server going down, we can retrieve those files for them and quickly bring those files back up.”

Kerem C., Director of Professional Services/Senior Solution Architect/Trainer at a tech services company, explains, “It's good for backup performance management and backup window management.”
