We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"SharePoint is already moving to cloud, if you are using SharePoint online, which is cloud-based technology, it is more accessible.""It is very stable.""It facilitates collaboration and the ability to create custom workflows.""We can now share to team members by MS Teams and assign planners to follow and update statuses in a single platform.""It's stable. It's very widely used by companies. Also, the knowledge of the product has improved over the years, and by other companies that support it or are Microsoft SharePoint partners. So if there are problems, there's always a user or company that knows the information or can help you; even with very uncommon problems.""The metadata services, the WCF service integration and the Voxel feature are three most valuable elements of this solution.""Quantity and variety of partners with solution development ability on the platform.""It offers an easy way to store unstructured content (.pdf, .doc, .xls, images) and to tag them with metadata."

"I like that there is a hierarchy in sending the documentation.""It works very well, and its pricing is also good.""The solution is fairly easy to use since there are no complexities. Also, it has a good user interface, and even its support is good.""The most valuable features of Zoho Sign are its integration and invoice facilities.""It is a scalable solution."

Cons
"There are some limitations on storage.""The workflow engine cannot support the business needs.""SharePoint’s scalability could be improved.""Workflow is something that can become more intelligent.""The product could be improved in a lot of way. It is so frustrating to get things to work as advertised.""SharePoint designer workflows can be buggy sometimes without any apparent reason.""It does not integrate despite being part of the Microsoft family.""The initial setup is complex and has room for improvement."

"I think that it would be a good improvement if one could chat with Zoho or DocuSign...In short, the tool cannot currently let me communicate or talk with it via chat.""They send the contract out with default templates, and we need to be able to adjust the templates as we would like.""Because not everyone uses it, it's difficult to get it adopted. When you send someone something and it's a DocuSign, they go, "Okay, this is legit." When you use any of the other ones, people are like, "Oh! What is this?" I don't know if that's a branding issue or something else.""Zoho Sign has to be made more user friendly.""The solution limits the number of contracts one can sign."

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
