Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"We moved from a legacy firewall to the ASA with FirePOWER, increasing our Internet Edge defense dramatically.""Integration with all the other Cisco tools is valuable.""The firewall power that comes with Cisco ASAv is the most valuable asset. They are are very easy to manage.""The web interface was easy for me. The configuration is logical, so it's easy to use and easy to understand how to protect, how to open a port, how to manage and how to route a device. That's why I prefer Cisco. It's robust and I never have issues with the hardware. That's why I choose Cisco and not another vendor.""The features I found most valuable in this solution, are the overall security features.""The basic setup is fine. We're just one person. It's only when you want to do some more sophisticated setup like channeling and stuff like that that it's more complicated.""We are using the Cisco AnyConnect for our end-user VPN with the ASA.""The most important feature is its categorization because on the site and social media you are unified in the way they are there."

"The most valuable feature is the automatic scaling. With its microservices, it scales both up and down, depending on traffic and throughput.""The UI was also one of the huge selling points. My web development manager was blown away with the detail and the granularity that you can get out of the UI. It is a very strong and informative UI, with the amount of data it provides."

"Sophos XG has cybersecurity. It integrates with the antivirus software.""It gives me a very good, stable connection in all tunnels.""The SL VPNs are the most valuable feature. I have a lot of systems out of the head office that need to connect to the local networks, and they all connect wirelessly via the Sophos VPN client.""What I like about his program, is that it is easy to use and easy to manage.""The filtering is very easy to do. You can segment and create profiles for usage very easily.""The solution seems pretty stable. We've had no issues so far.""I like the fact that it can self remove malware and do updates on the cloud via Sophos Central.""Price-wise the solution offers acceptable rates. You can find cheaper solutions on the market but when you go cheaper you have fewer features. Today, based on iQuate market the price is very reasonable and affordable, and it's good if you get a good discount. Discounts can be offered by the vendor. If it's a competitive upgrade which means the customer is upgrading from another vendor, Sophos provides extra discount so they can win the deal. In general, it is a good price."

Cons
"The product would be improved if the GUI could be brought into the 21st Century.""With regards to stability, we had a critical bug come out during our evaluation... not good.""We found it difficult to publish an antennae sidewalk with the ASDM. I think Cisco should improve this by creating a simpler interface for the firewall.""The service could use a little more web filtering. If I compare it to Cyberoam, Cyberoam has more the web filtering, so if you want to block a website, it's easier in other solutions than in Cisco.""It could also use a reporting dashboard.""The user interface is old fashioned.""I would like to see them release a patch for ASAv with cross-platform FirePower integration.""I see room for improvement when it comes to integrating all the devices into a central management system. Cisco doesn't provide this, but there are some good products in the market that can provide it."

More Cisco ASA Firewall Cons »

"There should be a bit more customer care, with regular review meetings on it or regular reports. It would be nice to have a quarterly or biannual review of what ShieldX has blocked."

More ShieldX Cons »

"The only issue that Sophos XG now needs to improve is the product's reporting capability.""I would like to have remote access to clients using a static IP for a certain period of time.""The initial set up process can be a little tricky, especially when you are registering with Sophos using your registration number. Setup is not necessarily complex, but it's not trouble-free. You do have connectivity issues at the initial setup with registering the device on the Sophos platform to access the advanced features. It doesn't always go through the first time around. That may be an issue with the quality of our automation. I'm not sure exactly what it is.""The program is rather expensive.""The UTM itself needs improvement. When you're navigating it seems like it takes forever to load anything. The hardware is okay. It's just the software that could be more responsive.""It's easy to use, but it's hard to configure exact settings. They need to make it easier to access advanced features.""On reports, they sometimes give a summary, but it lists different users as unknown. There are times that I really want to know which user or which IP is causing a problem.""They should expand their DDoS feature. It's basic. They need to enhance it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Watch out for hidden licensing and incredibly high annual maintenance costs.""I bought a license for three years and it was really affordable.""With AnyConnect, it depends on your license. It depends on the number of concurrent users you want to connect.""This solution might be expensive, but it is economical in the long run.""Some of our customers would be more likely to standardize on Cisco equipment if the cost was lower because a lot of people install cheap equipment.""The cost of this solution is high.""It would be nice if pricing could do more to reflect the economy of the country where the product is being implemented.""The program is very expensive."

"For a three-year deal we paid £55,000 plus tax... But, and this is a big "but," this was over two years ago. ShieldX had only just hit the market. We were the first company in Europe to buy ShieldX."

More ShieldX Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It's a suitable price and license.""We are paying about $1,500 yearly for the Enterprise Plus. As far as I know, there aren't costs above this standard fee.""The Sophos pricing, in general, is better than SonicWall, Fortinet, WatchGuard, or anybody else.""We paid for our licensing for three years, upfront, and there are no costs in addition to the standard fees.""The price is cheaper than that of some competing vendors.""The pricing is flexible. Sophos looks at a country's economy and offers flexible pricing. This is how they have managed to penetrate the market.""It's approximately $6,000 for each device.""It is not expensive, it's a reasonable price,"
