The collaboration hub is good because it allows us to share the models that we've captured and to get comments back, and we don't all have to be in the same room, it can be remote and over time.

Visio has improved our organization through an essential collaboration with the other Microsoft applications like SharePoint and Excel. So basically in the earlier days, what used to happen, a majority of the organization captured all the as-is process, the time and motion data in the form of Excel and then they used to create process diagrams using other freeware applications. Collaboration allows easy and convenient sharing with other stakeholders, that is really helpful with Visio.
I enjoy the fact that I can go into detail with Visio. In shared communications, I can inspect for any fault in my processes.
It is easy to learn and implement.
Putting details into the process flow and being able to link other objects into the diagrams are very helpful features.
The most valuable feature is the ability to draw models quickly.
The diagramming and swimlane features allow for separating business functions.
The performance metrics appearing in the collaboration hub needs to be improved.
We would like a better way to give users the correct permissions for processes, whether to view or design.
I would like to see more integration with the process manager in terms of the workflow accelerator.
There is always room for improvement is the capability of integration with other solutions.
The user administration, the user-group administration, and the license models need improvement.
Part of the product that I think can improve is document control. That's currently not even possible. To work with documents we have something of a workaround using SharePoint.
Customized reporting can be improved to make this a more versatile tool.
I would like to have the option to select the color of items and subgroups in the glossary because right now it is fixed.
Something that needs to improve, is the interface interaction with other tools.
The Auto-Align has improved significantly from the previous release; however, it still jumbles the model if your process diagram has a fair degree of complexity.
The one particular thing which I would like to see improved is in comparison to other products in the market, and is still lacking in Visio, is publishing on a web application. For example, there is a freeware application business process modeling tool, Bizagi.
I would like to see included in the next release is the implementation of web publishing.
Transferring data was one of the issues that I expected Visio to have resolved. I use the older version.
It does not integrate well with other solutions.
I would like to be able to present diagrams in multiple ways, such as a Swimlane diagram.
I would like to see traceability. It doesn't have it. You cannot find one object amongst several sheets of Visio diagrams.
Pricing and Cost Advice
I think we're spending about $150,000 a year on licensing costs.
I think that the price of the licenses is between $2,000 USD and $3,000 USD per license per year, plus the hub usage. I cannot remember the exact cost, but it is affordable.
My client purchased one editor license and the collaboration hub, which covers up to a hundred people.
This solution provides really great value for the money.
