Pros
There's no agent you need installed on the servers. In our environment, we have some servers out of our control so we cannot manage them. We use SiteScope to monitor the availability, the resources on the servers, etc. This allows us to do this job without installing agents so there's no need to take care of anything on the server. The Monitor Templates functionality allowed us to spin up monitoring with .csv files pretty easily.SiteScope has built-in flat file DB, hence it removes the dependency of an external DB for higher stability.Has a simple setup. It can be up and running within hours. It can monitor over a 100 technologies with built-in solution templates.

The most valuable aspects of the solution are its ease of use and its ease of implementation.People are very pleased with the implementation. The features I find most valuable is the querying and alerting capabilities. This solution makes it a lot easier to figure out trends within very different data sources, which makes it easy to see why something is misbehaving. This solution allows me to have true visibility for any metrics when it comes to my cloud, and private.

Cons
Sometimes in a huge environment, I think the documentation does not provide the required calculations so you can't know what the required set up should be. You need to test. They have not kept up with browser security requirements or advances in GUIs, they switched to a corruptible database architecture instead of text config files.Direct integration with an SMS gateway for sending critical alerts to the support SME. This will help customer investing in third party middleware solutions for SMS.

They could make it more easy to plug-in data so that a nontechnical person will be able to use it, like accountants or finance people. That way they don't have to ask us.The implementation is a long process that should be improved. In the new version, I would love to see more prediction capabilities. It would be great if one could see the alerts get a little more enriched with information and become more human-friendly instead of the technical stuff that they put in there. I think those would be really awesome outcomes to get.I would like to see more out-of-the-box dashboards for in-depth application monitoring of standard products that are out there.I would like to see integration with Kubernetes cluster and APIs so that you can manage the entire stack.

Pricing and Cost Advice
You have to pay for their "solution templates". Other tools do not charge you for knowledge-based monitoring bundles.SiteScope licensing can be node based-or monitor-based. I would recommend for node-based licensing.

Educational pricing is available for this solution. We were given a year's worth of service. It was included within our ELA. We were trying to do a proof of concept, which is almost over now.
