Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's a very simple solution to use.""The most valuable features are that it is user-friendly, it's easy to use and easy to teach to others.""The utmost importance lies in the performance of the application.""The Pro and free version of SoapUI Pro has good technical support.""The out-of-the-box support for the database is a valuable feature.""The product allows us to uncover any potential issues early on.""We used to write our own solutions, from small scripts to task web services, so this saves us thousands of hours.""The solution offers excellent integration capabilities."

"What I like about Worksoft Certify is that end-to-end testing becomes faster.""Provides all the in-built functionalities and is a wonderful tool.""For this SAP upgrade or implementation, the business users are creating building blocks in their areas, then they're changing the building blocks into long end-to-end scripts to do a complete end-to-end testing to speed up the UAT. It definitely has a bigger coverage of UAT testing.""We are mainly using it for the SAP application, and for the SAP application, if you don't have any experience with automation tools, after a few training sessions, you can easily automate the scripts. That's because no specific programming language is used. All resources that I have are specifically SAP resources. They are not from the automation background, but after gaining the knowledge, they are able to develop a script, or when there is any issue while doing regression testing, they are at least able to understand the issue, such as whether the issue is in the code or data.""The most valuable feature is the ability to automate quickly and to maintain and update scripts.""It is a pretty easy tool to use as far as automated testing tools go.""During our yearly upgrades, we have now gotten them down to ten days or less. We have Worksoft run all our integration tests, where it used to take probably six weeks to do that manually.""With Worksoft, we have been able to automate six of our smoke tests in four months."

Cons
"The documentation needs to be improved because the interface is not easy for a first-time user.""There are no bugs or glitches, but a few features available only in the Pro version could be made available in the open-source version. Some of the features do not necessarily need to be only available to Pro users. The data generator would be really useful for the open-source version users.""Stability has been an issue for us. It needs to be looked at and made a bit better.""The UI should be improved.""SoapUI would benefit from some more customization abilities. It's a good interface, but it would be nice if they added the ability to build custom dashboards where the user can do their own bar graphs and pie charts.""ReadyAPI Test needs to improve its reporting. While reports provide essential information when issues arise, or tests fail, having more graphical representations directly within the reports would be beneficial. It needs to improve stability and scalability as well. The tool's support is slow, and takes months to reach a solution.""If the load and bare minimum could be defined, I would give this solution a higher rating.""The UI could be a bit more flexible."

More ReadyAPI Test Cons →

"Reportings are not user-friendly.""An area that I would like to see improved is how the permissions are applied. If you're applying permissions groups to a user, one of the options is to delete the group entirely and lose the entire permission group, rather than just deleting the permission from the user, which seems a little silly. In my opinion, that whole module of permissions is very confusing and lends itself to common errors.""We ran into some issues with the version that we were on during the initial setup. We ran into a bug on one version, then they upgraded us to a new version, and we got hit with another bug. So, they had to put us in a beta. That was a little frustrating. However, besides the bugs that we ran into, the install was pretty straightforward.""They have a scheduler in Execution Manager, but it is not customizable. Its UI needs a lot of improvement. The lights-out testing is a bit difficult with that particular tool, and it needs a lot of improvement. Of course, there are so many integration options with Worksoft for execution, but when it comes to Execution Manager, which is their own tool, there is a lot of scope for improvement.""We can't get the process intelligence module to work properly. We can't get the impact comment that analyzes the incoming development code to run, either. We've also had bugs in the CTM and execution manager in the past year. It took technical support a long time to resolve this issue. We escalated it so that the vice president of the company was included as well.""When it is unstable, there will be times when a test that we are running in Certify will just stop, and it will say, "Aborted." There will be errors. There will be no explanation as to why it happens. It has now happened maybe one out of 20 times. When it happens, I just tell our QA team to stop Certify and restart it, hoping we don't see it again.""What could be improved in Worksoft Certify is its integration with other tools, for example, test management tools such as Jira, ALM, or any other test management tools. That integration is missing.""There are some other more complete tools than Worksoft Certify, such as Tricentis Tosca. It has a quicker way of taking in a customer's feedback with more efficiency. I do not see Worksoft Certify having a lot of progress over the years that we have used the tool in this area."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The cost is not that bad."
  • "I think the number of users is also limited, considering how much we pay."
  • "My understanding is that the pricing is okay, however, that's taken care of by our procurement team. It's around $5,000 for three years."
  • "The Pro version can be expensive for some companies. There are no costs in addition to the licensing fees."
  • "We have team members who are working in shifts, and it is not possible for us to utilize a single license on a single piece of hardware so that multiple team members can use it. We have to take out multiple licenses for each team member."
  • "SoapUI Pro is open source but it has a subscription-based model which involves some more features. At the moment we are using the free version. The Pro version requires a license, and it is an annual license to use it."
  • "ReadyAPI Test is about $680 per user, per year."
  • "It is free of charge."
  • More ReadyAPI Test Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The tool is not really good at all because you need to purchase some additional tools."
  • "We would purchase more licenses right now if they were cheaper. Pricing is a little bit of a hindrance."
  • "It is expensive compared to some of the other automation tools in the market. However, the benefits and ROI has proved that it has been a good investment."
  • "The initial upfront cost in terms of licenses, plus all the money that we spent developing tests, has proven it's worth. Now, we can do a regression test suite in ten days as opposed to sixteen weeks."
  • "Our ROI is primarily a reduction in testing time. The testing, when we were doing it manually, was 30 to 40 percent of the project's cost."
  • "We ended up buying too many licenses. They were very good at selling it to us, and probably oversold it a little. We bought 45 licenses and have never used more than twenty. However, they gave us a pretty significant discount on the bigger license, so it made sense for us to buy enough that we wouldn't have to go back and ask for more."
  • "We could use Certify to do robotic process automation, which is basically running a process on your correction system instead of your test system. Therefore, we may do that in the future."
  • "By using automation, it reduced about 75 percent of the time when compared to any other tool."

    Reviews from Real Users

Jens N., Enterprise Architect SAP Solutions at a computer software company, writes, “As compared to other tools for test automation, what is very good in this tool is the ability to implement logic into the scripts without coding and learning a complex script language. It is comparable to defining formulas in Excel. It is pretty easy to learn how to make your scripts more intelligent and more flexible as per the situation.”

Aditya C., Sr Test Automation Architect at a tech services company, notes, “The most valuable features of Worksoft Certify are the way we can maintain the processes and sub-processes inside. We can immediately identify and replicate multiple objects in the application without having a major issue with it.”
