We performed a comparison between SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer and SolarWinds NPM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Network Traffic Analysis (NTA) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."SolarWinds has improved our organization because whenever a device is down, we get an alert."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its traffic analysis."
"What my organization likes best about SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer is its easy deployment. It's also well-integrated in terms of monitoring because my organization also uses a SolarWinds solution for monitoring. You can connect SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer directly to that monitoring tool to get information. My organization also finds the default graphs that appear before the configuration in SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer very useful."
"The most valuable feature is the alarm that is set up to trigger based on bandwidth utilization."
"For stability, I would give SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer a rating of ten out of ten."
"I would rate NetFlow Traffic Analyzer's stability ten out of ten."
"The dashboard alerts me when a critical device goes off the network."
"They have instructional videos and other information available on the site to assist you with learning it."
"The most valuable feature of SolarWinds NPM is the performance monitoring to see the memory, and CPU utilization."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the monitoring capabilities."
"You can monitor performance counters effortlessly."
"Network performance is the main issue clients are facing. SolarWinds checks if a node is down, and we can set thresholds for performance metrics. For example, we set it up to get an alert automatically if a value is over 80 percent. It has a full dashboard that covers CP, hard disk, and node monitoring."
"All the features are very good. The monitoring of the equipment, the configuration manager, and the IP address monitoring are great."
"Monitoring capabilities are at a high level and it is easy to see utilization, access ports, and CPU memory in real time or through a lens for long-term visualization."
"It's a very good tool and a very stable tool."
"It combines and presents information from many different sources, giving a corporate-wide vision on a single pane of glass."
"If your network is on SolarWinds, and you notice that the traffic is bad because it says "user downloading a heavy file," it doesn't indicate which endpoint is downloading those heavy files. SolarWinds doesn't have the tools to be able to handle this kind of situation. You can just notice through your network device that the traffic is becoming overwhelming or heavy, but you cannot go inside and get more details related to the endpoint where it is happening. We would like SolarWinds to be able to handle this kind of situation and even manage the traffic inside a network from the endpoint to the network device. These would be good enhancements. It is mostly stable. The problem comes only when we want to add another SolarWinds model. SolarWinds has so many models, and sometimes when we want to add other models on the platforms that are reserved for our firm, it freezes. When this happens, we have to create a new VM for that model."
"NTA's documentation for the implementation phase needs some enhancement."
"They should work on the configuration of the Log Analyzer feature."
"Technical support could be improved with quicker response times."
"The price of the solution is a bit high for our clients. They should consider adjusting their price model."
"The solution needs better log management and log coordination with tools."
"What needs improvement in SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer is performance because sometimes, my team struggles too much for the solution to perform correctly for a specific deployment in my organization. Having a more detailed view in SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer is another area for improvement, but that's more part of the protocol than the actual solution."
"An area for improvement in SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer is the dashboarding. The user interface also has room for improvement because it's currently clunky."
"The only real caveat that we have or that I have an issue with is when I go on vacation, it's a little hard for me to go and modify alerts so that I don't get alerted about things when I'm on vacation."
"It would be nice to have a test to check if you can access a particular device via API without installing it and waiting for a poll cycle. You should have the capacity to initiate a test to see if it was reachable and get the results almost immediately."
"An area for improvement would be the use of modular licenses, which are not practical for big clients."
"We also had to be attentive to vulnerabilities, because SolarWinds NPM have some issues in that area. We had to work with our security team, so that they could help us check and backup the data, and check what they needed to secure."
"One of the challenges with SolarWinds is that in order to pull the data, we have to have a lot of false positives."
"The dashboards for this solution could be improved. We would like to divide the dashboards to give a clear view to our management team to show what we have and what deficiencies exist in our network."
"Robustness of network element mapping tool could be better"
"It is difficult for stakeholders to translate technical requirements, which results in difficulties selecting a platform or implementing a solution."
