We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The alerting and usage tracking notifications on disk space capacity, network and processor utilization.Technical support has always been great. They are very responsive. We've been satisfied with their level of support. The interface is user-friendly, making it easy to use.The solution is extremely stable. We haven't had any issues in that regard. We haven't had issues with bugs, glitches, or crashes. The most valuable feature of this solution is the alerts. We had some interfaces where the SFP Ports were having some problems after a while. We found which of the SFP Ports was having the error and changed it, so the bandwidth become okay.It is very extensible with 'SWQL' and APIs to where we are beginning to integrate it with network automation. This has helped us to monitor the availability of our routers, switches, servers, and virtual environments.

The first of the valuable features is how easy it is to access all of the information that's gathered from the assessments... With a lot of other technologies, like Rapid7, if you're using Nexpose you effectively have to be a DBA to get some of the lower-level results from the scans. And Qualys wasn't very intuitive. The next big one is supportability. In a large enterprise, we have many types of technologies. The technology we previously had didn't even support authentication to a lot of those technologies. The scanning itself is really the core of the tool, and it's what we're most interested in.

Cons
Complex and overly detailed setup. There needs to be more integration of widgets, especially for reporting purposes.Having more technical and support resources available in Saudi Arabia would be helpful. In terms of scalability, there is room for improvement. When you start monitoring, if you have so many interfaces and you're trying to monitor them at a faster interval, or a shorter interval, you get to a point where you need to request another node.It is difficult for stakeholders to translate technical requirements, which results in difficulties selecting a platform or implementing a solution. We are looking to change away from this solution because of the documentation and the solution doesn't have enough integration in our country. The documentation is too weak. This solution would benefit from expanding on the capabilities within the API.Application Performance Monitoring should be included in this solution.

When it comes to... dynamic application scanning, I think they are lagging behind the curve. They have a lackluster solution, to the point where I think they need to determine, as a company, whether or not that's a space they even want to play in.There are certain circumstances where they may have found a vulnerable service and they just removed the service completely from the device because nobody was using it. There's no way to go into SecurityCenter and mark it, to say, "This is no longer an issue. It doesn't exist anymore." Or, "The risk was accepted for one year, so let's not report it as 'high' until that one year period is done." The handling of operational flow around vulnerability management could be improved.

Pricing and Cost Advice
USD $15,000 annually for maintenance.I find that the pricing is acceptable. It is expensive. Some solutions are open source and free.We have a perpetual license for this solution, and my impression is that this solution is cheap. The pricing is very expensive for SolarWinds. That's a huge disadvantage for it.The pricing needs to be improved. It is too high. One full engine costs around $10 000, which is why we don't have high availability right now.

We did a three-year deal where the cost is amortized over the three years. The Elite Support was an additional cost to the standard licensing fees... If you use Security Center, most of the time it is on-premise, so you're going to have some sort of infrastructure to build out and there's going to be a cost associated with that.
