We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Conditional access helps me control uncontrolled access.""The most valuable feature is probably mobile device management. Small businesses are coming under greater scrutiny and requirements for compliance as time goes on. We don't have to worry about a VPN because we can manage these devices, control company data, and lock users out. If needed, we can remotely wipe devices and deadman-switch them.""The initial setup is not complex.""Autopilot is a great feature. Most users are looking for a zero-touch deployment.""Technical support, in general, has been quite helpful.""The device profiling which uses the official Outlook email enabled us to control the screenshot feature and prevent copying outside of the organization's application.""The ability to wipe data from and reset devices is one of the most important and valuable features. If a device is reported stolen, we can freeze it or wipe the data from it, preventing data leakage.""The ability to manage devices with different sets of policies is most valuable."

"Sophos can block the Wi-Fi connection on a mobile device. That's one feature we wanted, but the main thing is the ability to disable the device if it's lost or stolen. We need to shut down PayPal, so it can't be used to make unauthorized purchases.""The solution is quite user-friendly.""The security features work well.""In terms of valuable features, we liked the lock feature, the roll-out white feature, and the find feature. I think that Sophos had a GPS locator, so you could figure out where the phone was from a GPS location.""One of the most valuable features of Sophos Mobile is the Wifi password.""The most valuable feature is the mobile device management capability. You can easily manage all of your mobile devices.""The initial setup process is straightforward and fast.""I like the level of interaction that the product offers with the other products in our company's environment."

"Because we have a custom, business-to-business applications, the solution's deployment features give us the ability to control the deployment of new versions. We can granularly decide which people or which phone receive updates. It's kind of like having your own "app store" and being able to control what you deploy on the phones... You can see how the deployment is happening; if it's going well or not.""The other feature, that I have got to say is just leaps and bounds ahead of SOTI's competition, is the remote control feature. It's a true admin remote-control, so we don't have to have somebody on the other side of the device allowing us access to the device... We're able to pull up a tablet or phone and take pictures of it and we can actually videotape what's going on, on the device itself, and that's been huge.""Also, although they're Apple products, we don't use the Find My iPhone feature because that would require us to use so many fake numbers or come up with a list of numbers. SOTI has been super-helpful in helping us track where an iPad is and knowing that we can remote-access it.""It is very reliable, and their support is excellent.""All features are useful. It is useful for preventing the use of unauthorized software on corporate-owned devices. It provides an option to lock the devices for unauthorized software. The devices can only be used under the supervision of the device manager.""I have experience with technical support. They are quite good. Also, they very quickly understand the issues and what are the requirements from my side. Response time is also good.""One of the most valuable features is the ease of moving items from one configuration to another; it's a Windows-like setup. Also, the admin console is very easy to manage and to move through.""The remote control technology and screen-sharing absolutely help us resolve issues faster. If there is a remote user who has difficulties or does not understand an error or a problem or a crash, the support team can remote control the phone and see right away what is on the screen and act on the problem. We can debug, we can help, we can reboot the phone."

Cons
"The backend of Microsoft Intune needs to be improved. We have seen a little bit of delay as compared to other MDM solutions. That needs to be improved. A little bit more granularity should also be added""There is no catalog for mobile access management (MAM) security.""The pricing can be expensive if you are not combining it with other products.""We need the capabilities of the Cloud Management Gateway (CMG) to be enhanced through Intune instead of Azure.""It would be helpful if there was proactive remediation.""Intune's reporting and logging could be improved. When troubleshooting, it's difficult to collect the logs and determine what's happening. If I want to filter out the compliant devices, I can see it from the logs, but I would like the option to drill down further.""An area for improvement is the absence of seamless integration, particularly with external dashboards.""When Microsoft Intune is used with different android devices it does not always work as it is supposed to."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"In terms of what could be improved, the initial configuration and setup of the environment could probably be made a little bit easier. There are so many pieces that go into it. Intune is absolutely insane and Sophos is better, but it still is a bit complex to get it all set up correctly.""We have experienced issues in updating iOS devices when we set a minimum version requirement policy, and we do not have the option to force automatic installation. This means that the device must be supervised in order for updates to be applied, which we would like to see improved.""We would like to see graphics showing the use of each device.""There may be necessary adjustments that need to be made because we are facing certain restrictions within the work profile.""Our support reps are based in the Philippines, and it's hard to connect with them sometimes. It took me about two months to resolve my issue, so it wasn't a good experience.""The product does not work well in iOS.""The features of Sophos Mobile could improve. The way the system works together could be better. Additionally, the integration with other Sophos products could improve.""They continue to work on integration with mobile device management and mobile security. They are improving the protection but I think that the capabilities still need to be enhanced."

More Sophos Mobile Cons →

"I have used Microsoft Intune but it is more complicated than SOTI MobiControl.""We're deploying an application upgrade. We can't do more than three or four devices at once, and we don't know if the device actually received the upgrade. There's no indicator saying it's 100 percent complete until everything is done. Let's say I work East to West. I work on the East Coast and I want to confirm it was done with the upgrades in that region. I wouldn't know until I actually went into it. There's no indicator telling me that it's complete.""They could organize the software a little bit better, where you access things on the console. It seems like I have to click in three different places in order to get it to go to one area. I should be able to access pretty much any point of the server, whatever I need to touch, from a panel, without having to go click on a menu, then click on the profiles, then click over on Server and go back up to the top and click on the type of device that I have, just to get my applications to show.""Improving the reporting section would be beneficial for enhancing the product's overall functionality.""I would like to see some SMS integration so people can send data directly from a mobile phone through SMS when there's no internet.""The main feature that we would like to have with Soti is the ability to push an iOS update without having people come to my office. That is the main reason why we went with Soti. And that feature is not working on my version.""The pricing policy of SOTI is not stable. You buy it today at one price, and the following year, it becomes something like 5% or 7% higher. From my point of view, SOTI is a little bit weak in terms of implementation on the new Windows 10 devices, and they have to work on this. It can't compete with Intune and other solutions when it comes to Windows implementation. It almost doesn't work with iOS. It works well with Android.""SOTI MobiControl could improve by being more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Consider the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite rather than choosing specific sub-components, e.g. only Microsoft Intune."
  • "There is a cost benefit of using Microsoft Intune because of the packaging with other Microsoft products."
  • "Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
  • "The purchase of the product was handled by someone else."
  • "I have no comment on pricing of the solution."
  • "The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
  • "For Microsoft 365 E5 clients, cost is not an issue as this product is one of the benefits."
  • "The price of Intune is included with the license for Office 365, so we don't have to pay anything extra for it."
  • More Microsoft Intune Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The licensing is paid on a yearly basis."
  • "Sophos Mobile is inexpensive."
  • "The licensing fees are paid based on a one-year or two-year subscription."
  • "Apple is starting to do beta testing with their own solutions and for much cheaper than Sophos Mobile's price."
  • "It is a cost-effective solution."
  • "The product is not suitable for smaller companies because its price is high."
  • "My company needs to make yearly payments for the licensing charges attached to the product."
  • More Sophos Mobile Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing is okay, but when you buy your renewal of licenses - at the end of the period or the year - if you have a lot of devices, obviously, it's going to increase. In the end, it's kind of expensive."
  • "I thought pricing was kind of high, but I believe that Soti is probably the best out there for this type of software, so there's not much I can do about that. The licensing is annual, per device."
  • "They've been pretty flexible with us, because we've changed the way we do our licensing a few times. We did a yearly, and then we went back and we did a quarterly, and I think we're back to yearly right now. We've been able to work stuff out and pricing has gone down since the onset. We've got a better rate per device and it's reasonable. The licensing cost from SOTI usually doesn't scare anybody, away once it's explained."
  • "The solution that we were using costs less, but it didn't offer as much as Soti. It's comparable if you look at it over the five-year term."
  • "There are solutions that can be more aggressively priced, but they may not provide all that SOTI does. It's a matrix regarding what feature you use. You need to compare the features you use and what you are willing to pay for them... SOTI's pricing is okay. It's in the middle... They can provide more aggressive pricing once you start to have a lot of licenses."
  • "The pricing is reasonable and the licensing model is very reasonable when compared to some of the competitors in the market. I can speak directly regarding Intune, which is very expensive compared to SOTI."
  • "It makes sense to have scanners on SOTI MobiControl, but it makes less sense to have printers because there are fewer features for them, while the price is the same for both."
  • "SOTI's pricing seems to be competitive."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."

Sophos Mobile is a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) and security solution that helps businesses spend less time and effort to manage and secure traditional and mobile endpoints. The only UEM solution that integrates natively with a leading next-gen endpoint security platform, Sophos Mobile supports management of Windows 10, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
