We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Complete Data Protection is convenient because you can manage various types of databases, and it's pretty easy to set it up.""This is a very stable product.""Commvault provides the status of a backup or restore operation.""The cloud integration is a massive win for us, giving us a single backup service for all of our on-premise and cloud systems.""It never fails. Sometimes we miss a backup, but there's always a reason for it, and it's not the fault of Commvault. In the last three years, we've never had to open a ticket with Commvault.""Cloud integration.""A very stable and scalable platform (you can backup/restore/protect a couple of MBs or hundred of TBs as well from the same console/platform).""The diversity on offer is very, very good. Everything is supported. It's great."

"The solution is definitely scalable.""This is a good security product.""The most valuable feature is being able to take data and put it into other systems so that we could see the output, and to see where we need to apply our focus.""The product is at the forefront of auto-remediation networking. It's great.""The most valuable features are the indexing and powerful search features.""It is a solution that helps test and measure customer satisfaction.""The solution appears to be stable, although we haven't used it heavily.""The solution is extremely scalable. Our customers are regularly scaling up after installing Splunk."

Cons
"The solution's breadth and depth of cloud support are good, but could be better. Some cloud features that are common-sense, especially on AWS, are not completely integrated yet in the product. They are a work-in-progress.""We are using a production environment with customer-sensitive data on it. As per our central bank rules and regulations, we can't keep our customer's sensitive data in the cloud.""Commvault's price is quite high.""The interface could be improved because it has two different consoles.""Commvault Complete Data Protection would benefit from improving their training resources.""They can improve the VMware recovery and VMware backup. There is an improvement area on the VMware infrastructure. They can make available what they call a VSA proxy. They can have an appliance-type setup to deploy VSA backups and help recover quicker. They can have an appliance ready. Instead of having to have a server dedicated to that and installing software on a server, they can just provide an actual appliance for that.""With so many features, sometimes you cannot find what you are looking for in the interface and you have to dig into books online to find out how to solve an issue.""It takes a lot of technical expertise to implement. Commvault could increase the training it provides to customers and partners."

More Commvault Cloud Cons →

"Currently, a lot of network operations need improvement. We still need people to handle incidents. Our vision is to leverage status and convert it directly from the network devices. It would be ideal if we could take action using APIs and API code and remove manual processes.""In the future I would like to see simplified statistics and analytical threats.""They should work to add more built-in correlation searches and more use cases based on worldwide customer experiences. They need more ready-made use cases.""I'm not aware of any lacking features.""We want to have an automated system for bot hunting that enables us to detect anomalies predictively based on historical data. It would be helpful if Splunk included process mining as an alternative option. We have a threat workflow, but it would be useful if we could supplement that with some process mining capabilities over time.""The solution is much more expensive than relative competitors like ArcSight or LogRhythm. It makes it hard to sell to customers sometimes.""The price of Splunk UBA is too high.""If the price was lowered and the setup process was less complex, I would consider rating it higher."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If budget allows using the per socket license and not the agent based with per GB counter for Dedup is the way to go."
  • "There is now a subscription based licence option that, depending on your environment, could offer a more efficient method to licence the solution if you are OPEX cost driven rather than CAPEX."
  • "New licensing is easy and affordable."
  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."
  • More Commvault Cloud Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I hope we can increase the free license to be more than 5 gig a day. This would help people who want to introduce a POC or a demo license for the solution."
  • "My biggest complaint is the way they do pricing... You can never know the pricing for next year. Every single time you adjust to something new, the price goes up. It's impossible to truly budget for it. It goes up constantly."
  • "There are additional costs associated with the integrator."
  • "The licensing costs is around 10,000 dollars."
  • "Pricing varies based on the packages you choose and the volume of your usage."
  • "I am not aware of the price, but it is expensive."
