We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The debugging capabilities are great, particularly during data flow execution. You can look into the data and see what's going on in the pipeline.Built in reports show package execution and messages. Logging can also be customized so only what is needed is logged. There is also an excellent logging replacement called BiXpress that provides both historical and real-time monitoring which is more efficient and much more robust than the built-in logging capabilities. And none of this requires custom coding to make it useful unlike many other ETL tools. The most valuable features of this solution are the fast insert and fuzzy logic matching. This solution is easy to implement, has a wide variety of connectors, has support for Visual Basic, and supports the C language. The initial setup of this solution is very straightforward. The setup is straightforward. It's very easy to install. With this solution, there is the potential to expand, so that you can immediately write code onto the SQL server. The workflow features have been very valuable. You can have automated workflows and all the steps are controlled. The workflow functionality of integration services is excellent.

We've had no issues with the stability so far.It is a smart tool for us to design data pipelines. It lets us populate our three data lake instances. We like this solution for its connection capabilities, since it is very important to be able to use many different types of software. We tested a lot of SAP sources successfully, including cloud sources with SAP. It is also very easy to anonymize data with TIBCO, as well as populating HDFS files, packet files, and raw files. It is very easy to do that with Talend Data Fabric.

Cons
It should have other programming languages supported as well from a scripting perspective. Currently, only C# and VB.NET are supported, which limits it to .NET. It should have Java support as well. You have to write push down join & lookup SQL to the database yourself via stored procedures or use of the SQL Task to get very high performance. That said, this is a common complaint for nearly all ETL tools on the market and those that offer an alternative such as Informatica offer them at a very expensive add-on price.Generic processes should be used instead of custom code for each table.Tuning using this solution requires extensive expertise to improve performance. The performance of this solution is not as good as other tools in the market.Video training would be a helpful addition. The solution should work on the GPU, graphical processing unit. There should also be piping integration available. It needs more integration tools, so you can connect to different sources.

I would like to see better integration with other tools.Deployment can be difficult, but I didn't test the latest version yet. With Talend products, every release brings a lot of new features and functionalities. This is never a small adaptation, because the tool is maturing, but we need to test the latest version and to check its deployment capabilities.

Pricing and Cost Advice
t's incredibly cost effective, easy to learn the basics quickly (although like all ETL tools requires the traditional learning curve to get good at) and has an immense user base. This solution is included with the MSSQL server package. My advice is to look at what your configuration will be because most companies have their own deals with Microsoft. This solution has provided an inexpensive tool, and it is easy to find experienced developers.

Overview
SSIS is a package is an organized collection of connections, control flow elements, data flow elements, event handlers, variables, parameters, and configurations, that you assemble using either the graphical design tools that SQL Server Integration Services provides, or build programmatically. You then save the completed package to SQL Server, the SSIS Package Store, or the file system, or you can deploy the ssISnoversion project to the SSIS server. The package is the unit of work that is retrieved, executed, and saved.
