The two 10GE networks provide redundancy and increased performance as they serve as two separate networks doubling the throughput and doing multipathing and load balancing. We now have a high performance shared storage system which enables us to run on private cloud. Our previous system used bare-metal hardware, which provided high performance but inflexible management. Now we have best of both worlds, SSD-class performance with flexibility of a private cloud system.
With StorPool we were able to build live failover on top of our LXC infrastructure. This allows us both to live-migrate containers between compute nodes without any downtime and, in case of an entire node suffering any type of failure, we can bring all containers back online within a minute on a spare compute node.
The speed of the storage solution also allows us to provide service to applications that are very I/O intensive.
New versions of this solution should be tested more thoroughly before the release as we had a few problems with one version due to a bug.
I wish the sync after a failure, such as hardware failure or power-related issues, for example, was faster.
Being able to run StarWind vSAN on top of any free UNIX operating system to build a resilient iSCSI/FTP/SMB storage system would be useful.
If there was one feature I would like to see it would be a built-in subsystem for managing UPS backups shutdown procedures providing a way to initiate VM shutdown on all host servers, shut down the host servers, then put the fault-tolerant mirroring in standby, and finally shut down the StarWind SANs.
For the StarWind VSA vSphere solution, I would like to see a simpler and automated virtual machine installation process in terms of network settings.
This solution should be more self-sufficient, running without creating domains or failover clusters.
I would like to see some additional, and possibly clearer, implementation videos with some slower and possibly more detailed descriptions of what the various steps of implementation are for someone who is unfamiliar with high availability and failover clustering in Windows.
I wish there was online support because email return takes a long time and a faster solution should be found.
Monitoring and statistics UI is a bit clumsy.
At times we need to check the disks and do some minor operations. A friendlier user interface would be useful in such cases.
It would be good if, with next releases, StorPool provide a better GUI for monitoring and statistics. This would make our experience even better and complete.

The cost, including OPEX, is lower compared to other solutions.
The cost takes into account the number of nodes, so the size of the storage is not important.
Licensing is easy and the whole package is cost-effective.
There are two tiers of support and in my opinion, support is worth the cost.
This solution has competitive prices and the implementation is very easy.
The free version is great to use for labs or test environments.
This solution has a great price for the functionality.
Licensing is based on nodes rather than TBs, which means that the users are free to increase storage capacity without putting thought into licensing.
StorPool software is cost-effective and gives us a pricing advantage over our competitors.
StorPool's pricing and licensing model is very transparent. As always, one has to due his due diligence when choosing a product like distributed storage solutions.
