Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product provides instant and virtual standbys.""Easy restoration and the solution works quickly.""The most valuable feature is the duplication.""The backup is the most valuable feature. It also makes storage very easy.""The most valuable features of this solution are that I can by just one click, copy and paste anything that I would want. I do not have to restore the whole virtual machine.""I like the tool's speed.""The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging.""Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained."

Cons
"The technical support of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.""We could not go into granular details of retrieving backup information.""Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly.""The solution's reporting could be improved and should provide customized reports.""Licensing is an area that needs improvement.""The product is not user-friendly.""One of the biggest drawbacks of Arcserve UDP is that it does not have a single console, making it an area that needs to be considered for improvement.""We cannot restore each user's mailbox. Each user's mailbox should be independently restorable. Also, this solution is very slow. If you select all of the servers, it runs for a long time... It needs to be faster. Finally, If anything happens to one server we should be able to switch to another server."

"I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials. We really need a Window OS. It doesn't like the domain admin account. it's a primary permission issue.""There should be an option to use the solution for physical machines.""If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better.""The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve.""An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing.""I can't think of anything that may be missing.""The support could be improved a lot, as it is currently non-existent.""I would like there to be more integration with other platforms."

Pricing and Cost Advice

  • "The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
  • "It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
  • "Pricing is most likely comparable."
  • "The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."

  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."

  • "The pricing is good."
  • "The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."

What is Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows?

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is a robust, trusted data protection and recovery solution for both physical and virtual machines. This solution can be used to safeguard all kinds of machines and devices, such as desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Veeam Agent for Windows can easily be installed on all Windows-based physical servers, workstations, desktops, and virtual machines, and works well in either a standalone or managed mode.

It is widely understood that all users should back up all stored data on a regularly scheduled basis to protect all important data. In the event of a data disaster, data can easily be restored from the backup using this solution and one would never have to experience a loss of important information. Users can implement Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows to perform regularly scheduled backups automatically, or manually, as needed. Users can choose to back up individual folders and files, designate particular computer files, or even the entire computer image.

Backups can be saved in several different locations, such as:

    • Cloud Repository (Veeam Cloud Connect)
    • Backup Repository (Veeam Backup Server)
    • Network Shared Folder
    • Local Computer Drive
    • Removable Storage Device (USB, CD, DVD, etc)
    • Microsoft OneDrive

Veeam Agent for Windows users are able to:

    • Create a Veeam Recovery Media file on an external hard drive, CD/DVD/BD, internal hard drive, or choose to establish an ISO file using Veeam Recovery Media on disk.
    • Create a comprehensive system image backup and securely back up chosen computer volumes or specific personal folders with files. Users have the option to store backups in a network shared folder on an external hard drive, or use the Veeam backup repository, Veeam Cloud Connect Repository, or Microsoft OneDrive.

    • Volume-level restore: Veeam Agent is able to restore the complete content of the entire volume. The solution retrieves the data blocks pertaining to the designated volumes and copies them to the desired location. A volume can then be restored to a new location or its original location.

    • File-Level Restore: Veeam Agent will use Veeam’s proprietary driver to publish backup content safely to a user's computer file system. Users can then access the content user Veeam’s Virtual Disk Driver (VDK), which is included with the solution. Users can then easily browse and copy the desired files and folders to use as desired.

    Veeam Recovery Media

Veeam Agent for Windows allows users to create a complete recovery image of their computer using Veeam Recovery Media. This image contains all data necessary to run Microsoft Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) while supplying a viable option to run users’ computer systems.
