We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We've had no issues with the stability so far.""It is a smart tool for us to design data pipelines. It lets us populate our three data lake instances. We like this solution for its connection capabilities, since it is very important to be able to use many different types of software. We tested a lot of SAP sources successfully, including cloud sources with SAP. It is also very easy to anonymize data with TIBCO, as well as populating HDFS files, packet files, and raw files. It is very easy to do that with Talend Data Fabric.""The initial setup is very easy.""The Talend data integration has been one of the most valuable features."

"The high availability, tolerance, and load balancing features are top-notch. Its scalability features are also pretty cool.""The most valuable features are the stability and the time to market.""Good performance and reliability.""The solution is stable. We haven't had any serious technical issues.""The solution is very scalable. It can handle a lot. We have encryption plus integration servers running on that platform currently.""I work in operations, so I value BusinessWorks' performance the most.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten…On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy, I rate the initial setup a nine.""One of the most valuable features is that it's a simple development. It takes a short time to get services to work."

Cons
"I would like to see better integration with other tools.""We are currently using version 7.3.1, but preferred the version before. The problem that we currently have is that Talend are releasing patches for Talend Studio every quarter. Our technical team has to be on top of these patches and constantly ensure everything is updated.""We encounter issues getting email notifications. They should provide enough information about the configuration process for email components.""Deployment can be difficult, but I didn't test the latest version yet. With Talend products, every release brings a lot of new features and functionalities. This is never a small adaptation, because the tool is maturing, but we need to test the latest version and to check its deployment capabilities."

"The communication protocols could be improved.""The initial setup is not easy.""Improve Business Studio's stability to further minimize development time.""Cloud fitness is lacking""TIBCO BusinessWorks could be improved with cloud support.""The container-based image is too large and this makes auto-scaling difficult.""The cost of this product is too expensive for smaller companies or those with a small number of integrations.""Technical support is average. It's not the best."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There are no additional licensing fees when you scale"
  • "There are multiple subscriptions available with Talend, each with its own scope. Subscriptions depend on the number of users you have and how many remote engines you want to install."

  • "My understanding is that the licensing is very costly."
  • "It is a bit expensive for medium-sized companies. If you are migrating from the current version to the container-supported version, it is quite expensive. The existing licensing will not work because the product platform itself is different."
  • "Its price policy has changed quite a lot in the last two years. It was extremely expensive previously. Nowadays, you can buy a license for BusinessWorks for €2000. Looking at what you get in return in terms of support, TIBCO community, and stability, it is fairly reasonable. It is not too expensive."
  • "I think BusinessWorks is more expensive compared to other products. We have the ELA, so at least we have some sort of bargain or discount with that. But for a start-up, it's very expensive compared to other ESBs."
  • "Licensing scheme is too rigid"
  • "I don't have the prices of the products, but I know that TIBCO is not a cheap solution. I think that this solution is more suitable for large companies because I don't think that small- or medium-sized companies would have the money for this solution. WSO2 has the community version for free, so many of the smaller companies can use it. I'm not sure what the prices are for support, though, so I suppose the support for WSO2 is not cheap either."
  • "The solution is too expensive. It's one of the most expensive solutions out there, particularly because there are so many open-source competitors on the market. I don't know the exact numbers, however."
  • "I give the cost of the solution a four out of ten."
