We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Talend Open Studio's installation process is easy. One just needs to install Java before installing the product""The initial setup of the product was very easy.""This is a user-friendly solution that is easy to use.""The most valuable feature for me when it comes to this solution is that it's easy to use.""Open Studio's best features are that it's user-friendly, even for beginners, and very easy to implement.""This solution has improved our overall time to value for data ingestion.""A very user friendly solution.""The most valuable features are definitely data integration, data preparation, and data stewardship."

"The connection between Facebook lead forms and MailChimp integrations is the most valuable feature.""Zapier is a really good tool for connecting multiple different platforms and data sources. For example, with Quickbase, I can easily integrate data from other sources like AWS or task-tracking platforms such as ClickUp or Asana.""The solution is a SaaS and does not require a complex setup.""There are a few valuable features, like the stability that it comes with and also the number of features that it offers. I've used other services like Pabbly, but they don't offer similar numbers of applications that Zapier has or allows to integrate with – it's maximum.""The product's initial setup phase was very easy.""We can connect Zapier with Zoho CRM for lead generation. I like the tool's drag and drop feature.""The ability to connect web applications to trigger actions in another app after having enriched, formatted, delayed, grouped, and filtered is really valuable for many businesses.""Zapier's interface, for me, is the solution's greatest value proposition. It is designed and developed for people who don't have a clue about what they're trying to do. It has a very user-friendly interface."

Cons
"It gets the job done but it's a bit slow.""I would say that writing to JSON is kind of a pain. It reads from a JSON file pretty well, but writing to a JSON file is not so great because its components are not good.""It is not as visually appealing as some of the other tools.""In terms of features, it has all the features that I need. However, it consumes a lot of resources. It is using a lot of RAM, and they need to fix the issue related to resource consumption. It currently requires more than 24 gigabytes of RAM, which is a big amount of RAM.""The high price of the solution is an area of concern where improvements are required.""The security features could be improved.""In version 6.2 we did encounter issues with the job servers and specifically with ESB. Version 6.3 is better but large jobs can cause the MDM server to fall over, requiring a reboot.""Talend Open Studio is in Java language, and right now, you can only use the debug functionality in Java. I see that people who know programming languages other than Java currently face difficulties."

More Talend Open Studio Cons →

"Zapier could be a little faster, but that might not be possible. I would encourage Zapier to make more API endpoints for each application""There is room for improvement in the support. They are not responsive, and they don't take much time to get resolved.""I would like to see them improve the Quickbase integration. Currently, it only allows triggering actions when records are added, but it would be more useful if we could also trigger actions when records are modified or deleted.""System-to-system is fine, but when it comes to system-to-user, where Zapier is helping to communicate to a user, that's a one-way communication. If that user has to perform some action on that notification, the action isn't handled by Zapier. So there's no way to orchestrate that and it's very cumbersome.""The solution does not work properly when we apply filters and we get errors.""Some recent changes to the solution have made it bulky and not as intuitive to use as it previously was.""I think that this solution should have more apps connected to it.""It could support various languages along with Python."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing and licensing are fairly straightforward. It is reasonably priced and managed."
  • "Talend is free and you can download it."
  • "The paid version of this solution has a very high price, but even with the limitations, the Community version works fine."
  • "Price could be lower. It is getting too expensive when compared to some other solutions, which is actually a little bit concerning."
  • "There are many versions available and one is open-sourced which is free."
  • "The cost for one year for the ETL tools, not for the big data, is 6K per year. It is a good price."
  • "It does the job well for nothing — without cost. That's the advantage of this product."
  • "Talend Open Studio is priced too high."

  • "There is a free plan that is, of course, limited. However, it allows you to understand and check true scenarios for a while."
  • "Think your Zaps through to make sure you don't use more Zaps than you need."
  • "It's very straightforward licensing. There's only one cost you have to pay, and if you want a relevant pricing plan, I think you have two or three different models or packages which include the number of notifications or Zaps, as they call it, that you can program."
  • "The price of Zapier is approximately $75 monthly."
  • "Zapier is a paid service. Its license renews monthly, and Zapier will downgrade your subscription to the free version when your credit card doesn't have funds. That significantly impacts your service because everything halts completely. Zapier doesn't have any hidden costs."
  • "Per task, there is a monthly plan involving 15 euros...Also, in different forms, they just give you the ability to use different features. They charge 18.58 euros for the first standard plan, which includes 750 tasks. So, it is about 25 cents per task."
  • "It's very affordable."
  • "The least expensive plan is $24 a month, and you can go all the way to $800 a month if you're a huge company using many tasks."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Talend Open Studio solution.

Elio B., Data Integration Specialist/CTO at Asset messages, says, "The solution has a good balance between automated items and the ability for a developer to integrate and extend what he needs. Other competing tools do not offer the same grade of flexibility when you need to go beyond what is provided by the tool. Talend, on the other hand, allows you to expand very easily."

A Practice Head, Analytics at a tech services company mentions, “The data integration aspect of the solution is excellent. The product's data preparation features are very good. There's very useful data stewardship within the product. From a technical standpoint, the solution itself is pretty good. There are very good pre-built connectors in Talend, which is good for many clients or businesses, as, in most cases, companies are dealing with multiple data sources from multiple technologies. That is where a tool like Talend is extremely helpful.”

Prerna T., Senior System Executive at a tech services company, comments, “The best thing I have found with Talend Open Studio is their major support for the lookups. With Salesforce, when we want to relate our child objects to their parent object, we need to create them via IDs. Then the upsert operation, which will allow you to relate a child object to the event, will have an external ID. That is the best thing which keeps it very sorted. I like that.”

An Implementation Specialist, Individual Contributor at a computer software company, states, “I can connect with different databases such as Oracle Database or SQL Server. It allows you to extract the data from one database to another. I can structure the data by filtering and mapping the fields.” He also adds, “It is very user-friendly. You need to know the basics of SQL development or SQL queries, and you can use this tool.”

PeerSpot user Badrakh V., Information System Architect at Astvision, explains, "The most valuable features are the ETL tools."

Zapier is a tool for primarily non-technical users to connect together web apps.

An integration between two apps is called a Zap. A Zap is made up of a Trigger and one or more Actions or Searches.

Whenever the trigger happens in one app, Zapier will automatically perform the actions or searches in another app in order.

Zaps are very lightweight and easy to set up. Zaps do not import or export old data (they only operate on new items created after the Zap is enabled). Zaps are also not kept in sync ("two way syncing") after the Zap is triggered.

Zaps are deceivingly simple if you're used to dealing with complex and difficult integrations. Their simplicity is what enables anyone to create them.
