Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It serves its purpose and works well.""In addition to providing our clients a view of what's happening in their data centers, it also does virtual patching in the data center. It enhances the security in the data center big time.""It has a perfect SaaS which integrates with AWS, offering flexibility to deploy quickly and easily in the cloud.""The integration options of Trend Micro Deep Security have been particularly valuable.""The customer service/technical support for this solution is very fast.""Easy to scale, stable solution for workload and server security and protection. It's easy to set up and has a good ransomware protection feature.""There are compliance issues for legacy applications and after applying OS security patches. The product's HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) modules do the job for you automatically, without any downtime.""The agentless protection is very nice in Trend Micro."

"The clarity around the auditing provides the most value for us.""The visibility is very good. We have managers who are overseeing it, and they are approving things through it.""The change workflow process is very easy to customize. You can do a workflow however you want, so you can have an approval every single step. Or, you can remove approvals on certain steps, automating some steps.""The most valuable feature of Tufin is security auditing. We are able to check the rules and compliance of the company, for example, what is allowed or not. We are able to check the rules over different gateways and set over firewalls.""The most valuable feature is the reporting of our risk poster in our firewall.""It's user-friendly. It's easy to understand menus on the web GUI. That's a good feature for us. I can say that it's doing what it's supposed to do. It also integrates well with other products like Check Point.""We are able to stay compliant with many of the regulations.""This solution has helped us with compliance because we're able to map out certain firewall rules against compliance requirements, and we're able to write reports to show us exactly what our firewalls look like in those areas."

Cons
"In the solution, servers often go offline for various reasons, requiring us to manually check the cause or issue, such as connectivity issues, and to find out why the agent went offline.""There is room for improvement with Trend Micro Deep Security, as there are instances where installations may need to be redone. There seem to be glitches when working with older Windows servers, such as those from 2003 or 2005, requiring us to uninstall and reinstall the product to resolve the issue.""They are still working on the company integration from TippingPoint because this was a recent acquisition from a few years ago. So, a Tipping Point integration with Deep Security, having one single pane of glass dashboard, would provide us a simple use case.""Installation and operations may have issues on some machines owing to their configuration of the network cards as the product is a DPI driver.""We'd like to have more application control.""The tool needs to improve its subscription.""The working interface and the reports for non-technical people could use improvement. They are a bit scary.""The solution should focus on the EDR part and probably have an integrated data leak prevention module."

"I wish there was a read-only admin option. I don't like that you have to be a full admin just to see the Network Topology Map. That option is great out there if you are a user, multi-domain user, etc. However, that piece is very helpful for us, but I also don't want to be handing out admin access to every single person so they can see that network tab.""The documentation site is horrible as well. It has a tree structure, and you really get lost quite easily.""The interface is like a 1990s kind of thing. It's a little ugly. There are many things that you cannot tweak, little things like the column width and how you display the information. You end up exporting everything to an Excel file and doing your work there.""I feel that the user interface is a bit dated.""They are a little bit behind on some of their support for the Palo Alto firewall platform. I'd like to see that catch up, specifically around importing certain objects.""The key area for improvement is the integration to F5. One of the things that we encountered with another customer is that there were some limitations when we tried to migrate policies from F5 into Tufin.""The change workflow process is getting better. I wish it was a little more customizable. Right now, my biggest issue is that it wants to optimize everything we put in. Sometimes, we need a rule to be more readable, and we want it to go in a specific way. Sometimes, it's difficult to get Tufin to accept that. It wants to optimize and reduce the number of ACLs. On the compliance side, sometimes you just want more ACLs, so it's more readable for an auditor.""We would like to see more in terms of integration with other application types within the context, such as next-generation firewalls or next-generation threat devices that are out there."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "On an AWS defined scope, it will cheaper than buying the on-premise service. We did a trial for the on-premise version, but we decided to go with the AWS version. We are downsizing our server room, and it didn't make sense to put more machines in there."
  • "Purchasing on the AWS Marketplace was easy. We decided to purchase this solution on the AWS Marketplace since we were already there."
  • "The pricing is fair."
  • "Our company chose to procure this product via AWS Marketplace due to regulatory requirements. We mostly use it in the AWS GovCloud."
  • "Purchasing on the AWS Marketplace is like shopping on Amazon Prime."
  • "We do pay-as-you-go pricing, which is good for us. We are working with Trend Micro's sales rep to see if we can have something similar for on-premise."
  • "We have saved a 50% ROI for the on-premise product. It gave us significant improvement overall in productivity, costs, and efficiency."
  • "We did not purchase it through the AWS Marketplace because we have used Trend Micro in the past."

  • "This solution helped us to reduce the time it takes to make changes. We used to spend up to an hour to do a change, and now, it's around five minutes."
  • "Tufin and AlgoSec were pretty much in the competitive price range, but this one provided us better integration into the Check Point environment."
  • "The solution has helped us to reduce the time it takes to make changes. With Tufin, it takes ten to 15 minutes. Before, it was 30 minutes or more."
  • "The solution has helped reduce the time it takes us to make changes. It helps make overall integrated changes immediately. It allows us to cut down at least a few hours in the week in regards to changes and monitoring."
  • "We've seen a decrease of about 50 percent in the overall time it takes to complete a firewall change."
  • "Tufin makes things a little easier. It lessens the amount of manual work which we have to do. It has a lot of benefits in terms of revenues, profits, employee costs, and operational costs. We have already seen return on investment."
  • "This solution helps us reduce the time it takes us to make changes. We're probably saving time by 25%."
  • "Tufin reduced the time it takes to solve a problem, which reduces the time of the outage."

This ensures that the virtual desktops and underlying host are not impacted by a security agent.
    • VMware NSX integration: The integration of NSX within the Trend Micro Deep Security platform improves security deployment automation while also enhancing virtual environment protection. Trend Micro Deep Security enhances the advantages of micro-segmentation by adding security policies and capabilities that follow VMs everywhere they go.

    Reviews from Real Users

Trend Micro Deep Security stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its robust data and loss prevention feature and its patch management, which saves users money. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

One PeerSpot reviewer, a Senior Security Advisor at a healthcare company, writes, “DLP, Data Loss Prevention, and the complexity of how we manage the console and how this client, or this tool, will notify us when there is something going wrong within the server and endpoint, is good.”

Nadeem S., CEO at Haniya Technologies, notes of the solution, “Patch management is most valuable. The major selling point of Deep Security is that it is based on the cloud. Deep Security is for the servers and databases of data centers, and generally, for patch management, you have to shut down the machines, and then you have to restart them. So, they need shutdown time, which is a cost.”

Tufin enables organizations to automate their security policy visibility, risk management, provisioning and compliance across their multi-vendor, hybrid environment. Customers gain visibility and control across their network, ensure continuous compliance with security standards and embed security enforcement into workflows and development pipelines.
