We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Intune's unified endpoint management platform is invaluable.""Autopilot is a great feature. Most users are looking for a zero-touch deployment.""Based on my experience, I find Intune very flexible for managing Windows devices. We can use scripting, and we can make use of the self-service portal or the company portal to publish some of the applications for Windows.""The best feature is that we don't need to worry about downtime. We don't need to worry about the network connections of our office or the virtual private network. Everything is being done through the internet. Using Intune Autopilot, we can configure and deploy everything to the devices.""Fortunately, now everything is streamlined into a single, unified platform.""The performance of Microsoft Intune is good.""One of the main features of the solution is it allows the management of many devices in different ways.""While I don't think you can ever have full visibility and control, Intune certainly allows us to see the applications being used and tells us if things like Windows patches aren't applied to machines. It does a good job. That visibility makes life a little easier."

"Cylance, their newest antivirus product, is the most valuable feature for us so far.""The functionality with UEM and BlackBerry Works, the shared calendar, is a massive improvement for us.""There is very high flexibility for different setups of single users, so it can give a single use many different device types with different enrollment types.""Access to the emails on the go was most valuable. Having access to your emails in a secure way is one of the most important features of this solution. Blackberry ensures data security, and as a user, I can use it while on roaming or wherever I am.""Whenever we have issues, people rely on the ability to check messages promptly.""If a device is stolen, you have the power to remove all of the contents remotely. You can do this very quickly.""It was an improvement when we got the Tasks and the Notes as well as Connect for Skype For Business.""The containerization of the workspace is what we have found to be the most valuable."

"We have seen improvements in compliance management on the devices.""The product is capable of acting in many different ways to help secure architecture.""ShareFile, in particular, is valuable with its ease of sharing, and the best category security that is in the hands of users.""A valuable feature of Citrix Endpoint Management is that it's stable. The stability is not a challenge among the move to the cloud.""The MAM applications of the product are great.""One key feature is secure application delivery, which enables the secure delivery of mobile and web applications to end-user devices. This ensures data protection and compliance with corporate policies."

Cons
"The policies we had in SCCM and AD offered features that are missing from Microsoft Intune.""The configuration could be better by consolidating options and making it simpler.""Intune has some limitations when it comes to application updates for third-party applications. You can schedule an update, but when it's a package setup, you need to supercede and replace it each time.""We need the capabilities of the Cloud Management Gateway (CMG) to be enhanced through Intune instead of Azure.""The solution could improve its flexibility.""Integrating certain group policies can be challenging and may necessitate using on-premises systems to integrate them with Microsoft Intune.""The mobile and tablet-based versions need improvement because they are not completely user-friendly, compared to the web version. Also, data synchronization with our existing asset manager, the synchronization between multiple assets and multiple devices, takes a lot of time due to the security scanning. It should be reduced.""The reporting is subpar. That's the only issue we have with Intune. We use another solution for that purpose."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"They could improve their QA. There are many times where something will be released, a new client will be released, and something gets broken. Or they do a release and they don't take into consideration how some people may be using parts of it. Even though it's supported, they release something and it breaks it because they weren't aware of it. The biggest thing for me right now is, I would like to see improvement in their QA. I'm tired of getting broken software.""It would be ideal if there was something for communication with Microsoft tools like Teams or Skype for Business, or perhaps even with Zoom for conference calls.""What we don't have at the moment is RDP from the device to some kind of PC. Another feature would be access to a delegate's mailbox and I think that is to come in one of the next releases. There have been a lot of requests for that type of feature where, for example, a secretary can access the mailbox of the boss.""I would like to see better integration with our AD. Instead of having to use Active Directory groups, we'd like to use Active Directory attributes instead. There is a lot of overhead in managing. Whereas, if we could key on something tied to HR, or some other feed indicating who they are or what role they have, and manage them that way, that would be much preferable than having to manage people with Active Directory groups. Because, if people move roles, then we have to make sure that we move them from one Active Directory group to another, which is hands-on, a lot of overhead.""The interface could be improved.""The initial installation could be simplified.""Second level support needs to have strong knowledge of the product.""I'd like there to be more in the core product rather than having to buy additional products. For example, being able to trace your devices after an emergency is an additional product you have to buy to do that properly."

More BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite Cons →

"Support for inventory management of Apple devices should be added.""Requires integrating with ABM before enabling some of the features.""Citrix often depends on other services like backend data centers, network security, and application firewalls. Issues in these areas can be misinterpreted as Citrix issues by users.""Citrix needs to improve the architecture. They also need to strengthen the application integration. They keep referring to some things to be required as security, and they keep selling the next level and on-premise separately. They should give the customer the opportunity to decide whether they want to use the next level on-premise or on-cloud, but they should not charge additional fees if the customer wants to deploy the next level on-premise because the customer is already being charged as the end user. They should allow next level on-premise optimization without any additional charges.""The tool’s battery usage was high."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Consider the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite rather than choosing specific sub-components, e.g. only Microsoft Intune."
  • "There is a cost benefit of using Microsoft Intune because of the packaging with other Microsoft products."
  • "Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
  • "The purchase of the product was handled by someone else."
  • "I have no comment on pricing of the solution."
  • "The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
  • "For Microsoft 365 E5 clients, cost is not an issue as this product is one of the benefits."
  • "The price of Intune is included with the license for Office 365, so we don't have to pay anything extra for it."
  • More Microsoft Intune Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "With the new licensing model, there seems to be a significant increase in cost, which makes it difficult to push forward and talk with the business."
  • "In my opinion, we're paying an awful lot for what we get, compared to other vendors. I don't deal with the pricing, but it does seem to be a bit pricey for the things that we get, especially, when you compare them to other vendors, such as VMware, Citrix, who have all bought up other players in this space. VMware offers AirWatch free as part of their packages."
  • "Sometimes, it is very hard to get an overview because there are so many different suites to find out what is the right thing for new customers."
  • "We pay about $6 a year for the solution. There are no extra costs on top of that. You save a lot of money when you use this product."
  • "We currently pay by the year, but the licenses are calculated on a monthly basis."
  • "The licensing costs are paid on a yearly basis because we just renewed the license. If you have some big issue, they will also charge you."
  • "It was on a yearly support contract, and the licenses were perpetual. There was also the implementation cost and the support cost for the integrator."
  • "We are paying $200 annually. You also need to have a hardware server or a license for the server so there could be some additional fees added on to that."
  • More BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The licensing costs vary depending on the customer and the licensing model. We have three main types: per-user, subscription, and concurrent user licenses, plus a user-based model."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."
