Provides stable security and configurable VLAN management

What is our primary use case?

We use Cisco as a business switch on a small network of about 30 users. We use it for internet sharing, as centralized management for the network and active directories, as a domain controller, and for file sharing.

Pros and Cons

  • "This is a great solution for network switching and security."
  • "Technical support for integrations with other network products is insufficient and should be improved."

What other advice do I have?

Cisco is the better solution if someone is considering it and they are willing to pay for it. The product is expensive to buy. In my current position, the budget is not a problem. If other people are in a similar situation where they can afford Cisco, I recommend Cisco. If they do not have a big budget and they need to be more budget-minded, I can recommend the HP ProCurve (now HP Networking) and D-links (Ethernet Switches) as my first choice for less expensive options. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Cisco ethernet switches as an eight. It…

Low latency and easy to install, but a more modern interface is needed

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for our office network in an on-premises deployment. It handles only our office traffic, and our main computers are on the cloud.

Pros and Cons

  • "The HPE Ethernet switches have very low latency."
  • "It would be helpful to have training available for this solution."

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this product and also a support contract. I don't think that I would pay this price without getting the support. We are happy with this solution but it is really an old model. I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

A robust solution for networking that can scale easily

What is our primary use case?

We are a tech services company and this is one of the solutions that we provide to our customers. The primary use case for Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is for networking in a data center, or campus networking.

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable feature of Cisco routers is that they are robust."
  • "Having the option for a web-based interface would be an improvement over being forced to use the CLI."

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anyone who is considering this type of solution is to first consider the budget. Dell switches are cheaper and they do almost the same thing as Cisco. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
