From a networking perspective, it is a bit complex since we sort of have to keep an end tab on the network for network log ingestion, flow ingestion, and all of that.
The implementation took about two months or so.
View full review »The deployment is straightforward. However, a complex network, such as one in the cloud and a DOCSIS ecosystem, can become extremely difficult. Generally, though, the deployment is straightforward, and in our case, we completed the whole setup in three to four hours.
Specifically, large, complex MPLS networks are exceedingly tricky when deploying Darktrace. We may need more experience or training, but it would be good to see some improvements here.
Our InfoSec team uses the solution, consisting of two to three staff members. Regarding endpoints protected by the product, there were around 400 in my old position and 2000 in my current organization.

I do not know much about it, as an engineer from Darktrace did the setup for us.
View full review »The initial setup was actually pretty easy, as I recall. The hardest thing was finding space on our rack. That said, once we had that up and running, it was pretty straightforward.
We needed one or two people to deploy the solution. Two and a half people were on the deployment full-time.

I did not handle the setup process. We had a vendor come in and set it up and handle the whole process.
View full review »The initial setup was quite straightforward. It took us between two and six months. We got shipped an appliance and installed it in the data center. It then started collecting data. We had a few reviews of what it was collecting and what it would do. There was a test phase after which we enabled it, part by part, following a series of reviews.
Right now, 350 users are affected by Darkforce in our organization. It exists in the background, so they are not actively using it.
One member of staff is enough for deployment and maintenance because Darkforce is AI-driven. It does a lot of things by itself. You need to review what it's doing every now and then. You may, for example, need to release an email that was blocked for some reason, but it's quite low maintenance overall.
You do not need an engineer to manage it. It can be managed by a manager as doing so is not super technical. You always have access to Darktrace support, which means their engineers are available help you with the more complex stuff.
The initial setup of Darktrace was straightforward, but we used professional services to do it.

You have to customize it to the way you want, in order for it to work best for your environment. Definitely take time to train while you can during deployment.
Some things do work well, out of the box. However, this would be better suited for somebody that can take the time to configure it correctly during deployment.

The initial setup depends on the network. We had a mature infrastructure which made it a bit more challenging.
It took us a few hours to set everything up and make sure it was capturing everything it needed to.
If you had a straightforward Cisco environment where you could easily forward traffic and CDP needed, it would be pretty easy.

The product is easy to set up.
After deployment, we spent three months, which is the time that this solution needs to learn about what's happening in our network. In one day, once we had defined all the configurations and once they have been seen on the appliance, we were able to start running it.
It's an easy product to maintain.

Our deployment took probably the best part of three months. But the amount of time was more a matter of our constraints, not a problem with Darktrace and the difficulty of deployment. We are operating in 13 countries and it was the scale of it that took additional time. Smaller deployments will take less time.

It was pretty straightforward. You just monitor everything from your core switch. It monitors everything in and out.
We got it up in half an hour, but it still has to learn. You still have to give it some time to learn about the environment, and that's usually going to be at least two weeks.

Initial setup was easy. We just had to configure a switch port into what's called promiscuous mode and then plug in the device and give it an IP address and leave it. We deployed with our own technical team. It took a day to setup, maybe even less than that. Once installed they activated the license on it. We left it at baseline to look at the network for a week. It just looked at existing traffic and worked out what was typical traffic and what was interesting traffic.

The initial setup was quite straightforward but it gets harder if you have a lot of traffic on your server. With the right knowledge, you would be able to work around that with ease and do the configuration yourself. Because it's more deployment, so it's not that complex so far. I may have to contact their technical team once we get a bigger deployment.

The initial setup was quite simple; plug in two or three cables, they give you the requirements that you need and off you go. The configuration and learning how to tweak it is a little more complicated and involved, but the initial setup was easy. Deployment took around two to three weeks because the solution sat on the network for about 14 days doing some variable analysis and trending.

It's simple enough to install and it does exactly as the product says: "installed in about an hour." With only an hour to install initially and with being able to train people to use it in just a few hours, it is very quick to do the initial setup. Very straightforward. It's a jog in the park.
Normally, once you deploy, for a normal site it's about two weeks time to set up configurations for the network, but then it is optimized and processing even faster. It's faster with fewer features and, usually, I use is about half of what it is capable of doing based on the client need. And once you do that configuration, you're ready to go. All that in less than two weeks and you can start getting threat intelligence reports from the network with intelligent tools. It's fantastic.

It is very easy. The setup of the solution takes probably half an hour. The only thing that we need to place Darktrace on a customer site is a connection on the core switch with a mirror port. We need to have some space on the rack, and then we connect the appliance to the core switch, and that's it. We go back to the customer a week later to see what Darktrace is catching and start sharing with the customer our discovery inside the network.
The biggest deployment that we have done took about two months, but it was in 26 different sites. The main challenge was the transport. We had to take care of all the logistics to transport all the appliances and find the appropriate time to run all the appliances because most of the customers do not allow to rack them at any time. Therefore, it needs to be done at midnight when almost nobody is using the network. That was our main challenge, but it is very easy to set up.
