Darktrace Other Advice
We are not necessarily using the latest version of the solution right now.
It's totally different from any other solution a customer may have used. You have visibility, and it will find anything that you miss with other solutions. I would advise new users to start using it as soon as possible. Buy it. It's totally better than other solutions.
I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

I'm an end-user.
It's quite a good tool. They've worked hard to be the top security control in terms of AI and machine learning, and their product works well. Cisco would not match up. Maybe Palo Alto Cortex could do what they do. Cisco is not a security house, even though they have the networking knowledge and all of that. Most of their products are only now catching up to cybersecurity.
I'd rate Darktrace ten out of ten.

From a technological perspective, Darktrace is an excellent company, and the rate at which they improved and continue to improve their product is impressive.
All the data is on the appliance on the customers' premises, and we have to open back doors to the analysts in London to access the devices, who have complete visibility into what's happening on the customer side. This is a significant negative point for Darktrace. They also have complete visibility into our email, which is a privacy concern for us.

We're a potential end-user. We tested the solution. We just tried different scenarios to see what would suit us. We were testing it and will still go ahead with testing. The testing is not yet complete. We've put it on hold for now; however, we will still continue testing in the coming days.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
I'd advise potential new users that they should definitely give it a try; however, the price is on the higher side. Darktrace has to consider lowering its price.

My advice to others is they have to understand that the solution is looking for behavioral anomalies, and it is going to take tuning to achieve this. It's not a set-it-and-forget-it solution. You have to monitor, update, and optimize it for your environment.

Darktrace has improved our client's organization's threat detection and response capabilities. Darktrace has helped users intercept and stop ransomware attack attempts in the very early stage, within a couple of minutes of its detection Autonomous response is a very good and useful feature that differentiates Darktrace from other solutions.
One person can easily maintain the solution. Darktrace easily integrates with our client's IT infrastructure solutions, like Microsoft 365, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto firewalls. Darktrace has impacted our clients' incident response time to be very quick.
Darktrace is an autonomous solution. Users have to ensure they present all the traffic to the tool so it can intercept threats and not have hidden spots in their networks.
Overall, I rate Darktrace a nine out of ten.

We are using the last version of the solution, although I don't know the exact version number. We plan to upgrade in the next couple of weeks. We might be on version five, with the latest being six.
This is something that is really easy to implement in an organization. It gives us good visibility about what is happening in our networks, and on the system. We like the transparency available within our infrastructure now. We can also personalize it to fit our needs. You can either choose plug and play or you can go deeper. They have artificial intelligence you can start working with. You can define more by leveraging modules. Overall, it's very interesting.

If someone asked me for advice about the product I would definitely highly recommend it to those who need this type of solution. It is really good. It has given us a view of our company and it has actually caught a couple of people that were doing data exfiltration and stealing data from our company. We caught them doing it in the act in live time, which is just incredible.

My advice to someone considering this solution is to install it, conduct a pilot, and see. You need to see how easy it is to implement and you need to add it to install. You need to see what kinds of results it provides and compare it to your existing tool kit. The product demonstrates its actual capabilities when it's actually working. It's difficult to comprehend what it can actually do but it does give you an added level of visibility.
It has good capabilities. I would rate it an eight out of ten.
Cross-correlation with the endpoint based activities would be useful, like the ability to look at the deep supervised learning engine of the artificial intelligence unit and being able to take input data from the endpoints in order to apply the rules. It works on supervised learning and rules but I would like to be able to do things on different feeds as well.
It has a very good graphical user interface. The ability to get a console on the mobile phone and being able to respond and do basic incident response capabilities remotely is also a good feature.

In terms of our organization, we are a massive IT organization or financial services company. We've got a very small ITP, but we've got a lot of data. We are not sure about Darktrace in terms of its capacity to deal with huge data, but it is probably too early for me to give some sort of indication of what is not big.
At the moment, they are delivering on the set objective in terms of what I want to achieve as a CIO, and I'm quite happy with some of the deliverables that are coming through at the moment. In terms of what our requirements were and what we expect in terms of what we want them to deliver, they have delivered. Within the next two to three years, I would probably be able to provide a different perspective after we've matured within the Darktrace environment. At the moment, they've delivered the actual scope of work. There is nothing really that they're not delivering on as promised. So, at the moment, I'm quite happy with where we are.

My advice to people and organizations considering this as a solution is: go buy it. They shouldn't waste their time fussing and looking around at other solutions. It works. I've done administrating for several years, and this is the one solution that works. It complements what you have, whatever that is. It is like a plug-and-play component. There is no solution that does what it does. You even have some excellent systems like Cisco's Stealthwatch — these are just the three packet analysis technologies. Darktrace is actually DPI (Deep Packet Inspection), which in my markets is now called the threat level buttons. It is really an advanced product and everything just works ridiculously well.
If I had to rate the product on a scale of one to ten (ten is the best) I'd give it an actual ten. It is the only product I use that I would give a full ten. It's hard to achieve a ten as you have to be better than everything and everyone else. It does deliver on what it says it can do.

Over the past years, I have seen some customers say, "No, I have Endpoint protection. I have intrusion prevention. I have a firewall. I don't need anything like that." My advice is that first of all, open your mind to new solutions because this type of solution will catch everything that the rest of the solutions that you have won't catch. That's the first thing. The second thing is that do not limit the work of the people who work with Darktrace by saying that you know your network because we can assure you that you don't know your network and the threats that are inside and outside the network and the size of the network.
We always start with Darktrace Enterprise Immune System, which is the first model. The reason for this is that it is easier to adopt the Antigena model at the second stage because the solution by itself needs to learn inside of the network and what is good and what is bad. When we place Antigena, the deployment stages are exactly the same as when you first deploy the Enterprise Immune System in order to let it learn. After the solution starts learning, it will take at least a couple of months or probably three months to deploy Antigena. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to make customers spend more money on a solution in the initial stages and go for a solution that they would not be using initially. This also provides the appropriate sizing of the network. Most of the time, the customer needs to acquire more services from us in order to support all the infrastructure that they have.
I would rate Darktrace a ten out of ten. I am a very happy user and a happy seller of Darktrace.

We're very pleased with Darktrace so it is a bit difficult to pinpoint areas for improvement. It covers all of our needs and from what I can see, it does the basics very well. There are many advanced features, also.
This is a solution that I definitely recommend. It offers a proof of value rather than a proof of concept, where they run the tool in your network, let it learn and then catch any vulnerabilities. Then you will actually see the value of the solution, either potentially blocking any exploitive threats or not, but its a really good thing to go through. To do this, I think that you have to go through an actual partner unless you're in a location where Darktrace has a physical office. In any event, I strongly recommend going through the proof of value to see if you like it. If there is a charge then it is definitely worth it.
