The initial setup is quite easy. The implementation time depends on the project and the scope of work.

I rate the product's initial setup an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy.

The solution is deployed on a private cloud.

The solution's deployment phase took weeks to be completed.

Once you get going, it's really a straightforward solution. It's not something you see, it just works in the background. There are no end users as such although the solution affects all of your users on the systems that you interconnect with.

The tool's deployment is straightforward and familiar to me. We can easily test solutions in different environments, like development, testing, and production. We utilize CI/CD for our support processes. We maintain an XML file containing the component ID, integration version, and other necessary details. Then, we run the CI/CD PowerShell script in DevOps, which automatically retrieves the component details and deploys them to the target environment.

The ease of implementation in terms of setup depends on whether you are doing a setup for an enterprise-scale company or not and how you're doing the setup. That said, the setup is not too complex here. I'd rate it 8.5 out of ten in terms of ease of setup.

In my experience, you only need three or four team members to handle an enterprise-level setup.

The initial setup is very complex. It's not simple or straightforward.

I can't speak to how long deployment took, as it was handled by a third party.

There is just me and one other person that handles the maintenance aspect of the product.

The platform’s initial setup is straightforward. I rate its process a ten out of ten. We click a button, and a script automates the process. It takes less than an hour to complete.

The great thing about Dell Boomi is there is no setup involved. It is a cloud-based tool. All the integration is done in a browser. Only a light-weight Java runtime engine needs to be installed for the process to run. Other than that, there is no other setup needed.

Technical Director at a tech services company with 51-200 employees

The initial setup is generally very complex because, in a large company, you can't find anybody that has a global view of both business and technology. This means that you end up speaking with people on the business side, and they are not as familiar with IT. Ultimately, this makes it more difficult to create a PoC.

If the proof of concept is quickly deployed then the customers are generally impressed by the facility and the features that it provides. The length of time for deployment depends on having a good understanding of both the business and of the stakeholders during the proof of concept.

I would say that someone who is familiar with data and queries and familiar with the world of manipulating data will be able to do the initial setup and be productive with Boomi in three to four days.

There is plenty of online learning and a whole certification track. There is a very, very active community, so when you have questions you can just post queries and a few hours later you will get feedback. It is a tool that someone in your company who has a little bit of a technical background and is experienced with data will probably be able to have a production version up and running and to do a lot of things without help from an external partner. Once you start to do more complex integrations or API management, I would advise that you work with an experienced partner to get you up to speed and design. Doing that will keep you from making too many rookie mistakes that will end up costing more time and money to fix.

But it is a tool that you can use at the company and do it yourself. It is not a tool that you need always to pay an external developer to help evolve.
