What is most valuable?

The speed and deduplication ratio are two of the most valuable features of the solution.

How has it helped my organization?

Nine years ago, we were relying on backup tapes only. Now, since we've moved to StoreOnce, as per the legal and compliance perspective we still have to use tapes, but we… more »

What needs improvement?

I'm using this product to save some files. It has a feature where I can make it as an SMB share. When I started using it for CIFS, the SMB share, had a limitation of… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The license is part of the hardware. You don't need to buy or renew it separately. StoreOnce comes in a package: hardware and software. All the licenses come with it… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't have another solution previously, in terms of backup storage, but in terms of software, I have used some other products like Windows deduplication. This… more »

What other advice do I have?

We are using the private cloud deployment model. If you purchase the product, you will have peace of mind. You don't have to worry about the product at all. My only advice… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did evaluate Data Domain from EMC, but I didn't like it because Data Domain has other limitations. In terms of density per rack, it was using more rack capacity. Also… more »

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is SnapMirror.

What needs improvement?

If our customer needs a high-performance storage solution then we don't recommend this product. Some of our customers complain about not liking the UI, whereas others say that they love it. Also, some say that the FAS is too slow and some… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price depends on the size and features. I've sold arrays for as little $20,000 USD and as high as $300,000 USD. It would be very difficult to give an average cost. In some cases, there are costs in addition to the standard licensing… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I regularly work with solutions from NetApp, Dell, and HPE.

What other advice do I have?

The suitability of this product depends on the use cases and the environment. For places where we sell it, it fits well. In places where it doesn't fit well, we would typically go with another solution like NetApp All-Flash storage, or… more »

What is most valuable?

It was very simple to deploy the solution to the client that wanted to backup.

What needs improvement?

It was challenging to back up our Exchange database, which is one of the reasons we did not continue using this solution. It was very tough, and a case of having to contact the Microsoft Partner Network. Technical support needs to be improved. We could not integrate this solution with our tape… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were not able to back up the Exchange database with this solution. In the end, we had to discontinue using it. We switched to EMC Data Domain, and the cost was one of the factors that influenced our decision.

What other advice do I have?

This is a solution that I recommend. It is a good product. It's stable, it is easy to deploy, and the visibility of the backup and restore is good. If I had my way then we would be using this solution for other applications and we would be running them side-by-side as a comparison. I would rate this… more »
