A strong solution with great technical support and third-party marketing services for partners

What is our primary use case?

We've used IBM Power Systems in our passport and immigration department. It's a government-run department. We've also used it with a few SMEs. They required smaller versions offsite with our systems. We did sell an IBM system to a couple of universities where they had about 20,000 students. It's used in a variety of instances and environments.

Pros and Cons

  • "The technical support that clients get from IBM is excellent."
  • "IBM should be more flexible with marketing or offer marketing events themselves and invite the partners to attend. That might be far more productive."

What other advice do I have?

We typically use the latest versions of the solution. We tend to follow whatever the customer requirement is. They are inclined to work by night in the office on the latest product that IBM is offering. We work with on-premise as, over here at least, people are not too inclined towards the cloud. They prefer having hardware of their own in their own data centers. I'd recommend this solution to other organizations. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I'd rate it at an eight. Better pricing would be one thing that may convince me to give it higher marks.

Strong, easy to manage and monitor, and have very few failures

What is our primary use case?

We have installed VMware on DL Server, and the operating system sits on this DL Server host.

Pros and Cons

  • "This is all I've ever used. These servers are strong, and they have very few failures on them. They are also easy to manage and monitor."
  • "They are pretty solid servers, but, just like all servers, they become obsolete after some time. They can maybe provide a console to monitor the health of the servers. There should be some kind of console to which you can log in to remotely check on the health of a server, even when the server is off. The servers that we have are only scalable to some extent. They have got a limited amount of hard drive that you can insert. Their scalability should be improved."

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend these servers. I would rate HPE ProLiant DL Servers a nine out of ten.

Easy to implement with fair pricing and a good user interface

Pros and Cons

  • "The pricing of the solution is fair."
  • "It would be nice if the rack servers had an HCI solution as an option."

What other advice do I have?

We are a service provider and a reseller. We use various versions of the solution. The deployment models also vary as it depends on customer requirements. We deal with a lot of hyper-converged solutions. I'd recommend the solution. We've had no issues with it at all. Overall, I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Easy to set up and the support is good

What is our primary use case?

We are a system integrator and this is one of the products that we implement for our clients. They are for general, mixed usage that includes use cases such as virtualization and hosting VMware.

Pros and Cons

  • "The initial setup is straightforward and easy to do."
  • "The warranty and support periods should be extended."

What other advice do I have?

We do not deal with the latest version because we find that for rack servers, the previous version is a little better. Manageability is not a big option for this type of server. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
