What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of this solution is its simplicity. It is easy to use.
How has it helped my organization? We don't use NetApp AFF for machine learning or artificial intelligence applications. With respect to latency, we basically don't have any. If it's there then nobody knows it and nobody can see it… more»
What needs improvement?I want an interface through ONTAP that look more like what it does for the E-Series with SANtricity. One of the things that I liked about the SANtricity GUI is that it is standalone Java. It doesn't… more»
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We've had NetApp since day one. Within our organization, there are multiple other teams and almost all of them use NetApp on classified networks. We have a little bit of HP and I think there's a… more»
What other advice do I have? One of my favorite parts of this solution is that most of the day I sit there and do nothing, watching the lights go green on unify manager, knowing that they should stay green because it indicates… more»
Which other solutions did I evaluate? We didn't have any other vendors on the list, although we had one team that tried to push HP on to us and we said no. HP was really the only other possible alternative that we had. We had tossed… more»
Review of Pure Storage

What is most valuable? For us, the most valuable feature is the compression and deduplication. Being able to deploy a three to one ratio for storage is absolutely critical in today's world with the growing need for storage and the growing need for more space… more»
How has it helped my organization? We used to use a product called XtremIO which was a pretty significant improvement on the old way of deploying storage which was through standalone SANDS and we also used EMC VMAX. That was really expensive. We saw a vast improvement when… more»
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We previously used XtremIO. We knew we needed to switch because of the trends in the industry. It's always going be a battle for consumer-based demands. Consumers are always going to demand more, and more; now. What that means is that you… more»
What other advice do I have? It's a pretty simple and pretty straightforward solution. There's a lot of one pane of glass type of things that we have with Pure and I don't see much in terms of improvement. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten. My advice to… more»
Which other solutions did I evaluate?Pure was on our shortlist. There are not a whole lot of other competitors that do what Pure does. They architected their own SAND right from scratch and it's a versatile product.

What is most valuable? In terms of which features I've found most valuable, this includes rapid deployment, easy integration management and cloning of areas - their cloning tools. Also, the deployment is very quick and very simple.
What needs improvement? There is a lot of room for improvement. What I don't like is that they do not create barriers in the areas. The data management is based on the software and they do not use segmentation on the storage. That is the main problem - there is no segmentation. You cannot segment the data on the database. You put the data there but you don't know where the data goes on each disk. The information will be… more»
What other advice do I have?On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give NetApp EF-Series All Flash a 5. It's a low rating because as I mentioned, they have to improve their software. NetApp is an array that is made on the software. Their problems are on the software and the controlling of the storage where they lack segmentation and federation. Fragmentation, in particular, is a problem that could be improved for big customers since big… more»
