Dell XtremIO Scalability
Dell XtremIO is highly scalable and I would rate it a ten out of ten. My company has 2000 users for the product. We use the solution 24/7 since the last seven years.

We have not specifically had scalability problems. Upgrade paths are fixed.
Paths, capacity, and performance scale as X-Bricks are added.

Scalability has an upper limit, so it's difficult to scale to a certain extent, or to an enterprise, level, but it simply runs out. There is a limit to how far you can go.
We have 20,000 users with varied workloads from SAP, SharePoint, and Exchange.
We intend to replace it with something else or to upgrade it as it comes to its end of life.

Dell EMC XtremIO is scalable and it is easy to do. However, we cannot have more than four bricks.
We have approximately 10 people in the storage team who use the solution and 5,000 use the services in my organization.
The solution is used on a daily basis. The media profiles are launched for each user and it communicates to the Dell EMC XtremIO daily.
View full review »We did have some initial issues, given the 3.x version we were on. We ended up migrating from 10TB bricks to a 20TB brick cluster when we upgraded.

View full review »None that weren’t expected. This is a scale out product, not scale up or scale up and out. You can go from 1 XIO brick to 2, 2 to 4 and then 4 to 8. If you know this up front it is very easy to plan around.

View full review »We did not immediately have scaling issues. Scaling up is, in fact, very easy. Just “buy” an X-brick of 40TB and plug it in. The system does the rebalancing automatically. Since we use a VPLEX, the scaling limitation lies with the VPLEX.

We had some difficulty when we tried to expand our XtremIO because it had to be done in a certain way and only EMC personnel were allowed to do it. That wasn't very flexible. But it seems to be better in the new version. Scalability is always a problem.
