It is quite straightforward. We are using a network operating system (NOS), so it is quite straightforward.

The initial setup is straightforward and takes almost six hours to complete.

Initially, we bring up the device, perform the batching, conduct image upgrades, handle wiring and cable connections, and proceed with configuration. Following this, we conduct comprehensive testing, typically our standard procedure.

Setting up Dell PowerConnect Switches is quite easy. On a scale of one to five, with one being difficult and five being easy, my rating for the initial setup of the product is four.

When doing the implementation I don't stack Dell PowerConnect Switches up because my systems are dispersed from each other. However, they are very nice for stacking, though the cables are sometimes short. If you want to stack them up in the same rack, some of the cables might be short.

I have not found any problems with the installation or configuration of Dell switches. I used a basic configuration so it is simple. It takes perhaps half an hour to deploy.

A user can take care of the product's installation part, but it may not seem to be an easy process.

During the deployment process, my company's engineers visit our customers' sites to set up all of the equipment before installing and connecting everything and then start making adjustments per a set procedure.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

My company can call Dell via phone and ask for support when it comes to the product's deployment process, but in such a scenario, we need to pay something, meaning there is an opportunity provided to us where we can seek help from Dell employees but we try not to use it.

The initial setup is easy. The tool doesn’t provide a GUI. Other products provide GUI. The time taken for deployment depends on the configuration and how the servers and nodes are connected.

The tool's setup depends on the features that you need. The documentation is good. I don't see any problem with the solution's configuration. The tool's deployment can get completed in just a few hours. The solution's maintenance is good.

We do not require a lot of maintenance when dealing with the solution. This solution is deployed on-premises, not on the cloud.

The initial setup depends on the environment. Sometimes, I need the inter-VLAN or layer 3 feature, which can be complex. In some of the modes, it is plug and play.

I don't think the initial setup is complex, we managed to do it ourselves without any problem. As long as all your cabling is properly numbered and you know where they lead on your patch panel, then you're okay.

The initial setup was very straightforward and easy. It's a good feature in Dell switches.

Deployment throughout the building, including core switches, data switches, connecting the wires and fiber cable took about 10 days. We had two people assisting us from the vendor company and three people from our company. Initial deployment is the responsibility of the vendor.

The initial setup is straightforward with complex settings. It's not as simple as taking it out of the box and assign an IP. Some parameters need to be checked.

Dell is very good at documenting, they provide best practices, and they check to see if you have applied those setting before activating the Proactive Care support contract.

Depending on the size, the deployment takes one or two days. If you have some experience it's easy and flexible.

IT Project Manager at NTSAFRICA Services

The initial setup is very straightforward and easy to do. If I understand the requirements and what has to go into the configuration then it will take me a maximum of 15 minutes to deploy. This is for a single switch. In a large environment, there can be many switches. If we are deploying 50 switches, for example, then we might have three engineers to do the job.

Depending on the customer's environment, it is sometimes deployed on-premises but as part of a private cloud.
