Dell PowerConnect Switches Previous Solutions

We have also worked with Cisco switches. There were so many gaps, and we are still trying to cover the gaps. We are very well-versed with Cisco to monitor everything. We were not able to initially monitor with Dell, but now, we are able to monitor. So, monitoring is one aspect. We are looking into auto-deployment. It is available in higher-end Cisco switches but not on all switches. We are still exploring this feature.

The pricing of Dell PowerConnect switches is much less than Cisco switches. Cisco switches are super-expensive.

We use a mixture of brands. Lately, we have purchased Dell products.

Cisco and Nortel are very stable. We have been using some switches for more than ten years. When they do have issues, we just restart and everything comes back to normal.

We also have Cisco switches in our environment. It is probably 80% Cisco and 20% Dell.

I also have experience with Huawei, HP, and Juniper switches. Huawei switches used to use a similar set of commands, but they are different now. HP uses almost the same command set. Juniper switches are more difficult to work with.

In our data center, we have also used Arista switches.

The solution is not popular in the market. Cisco and other brands are more popular. The customers often choose Cisco. Cisco is known for its good network features.

I've previously used Cisco switches. I switched to Dell PowerConnect Switches because it was less expensive and more cost-efficient.

We also use Cisco switches. They are very similar to this solution. Cisco and Dell have the same functionality. For Dell, however, it's two devices in one cluster. Still, it's very similar. I don't see any big difference between Cisco and Dell.

In the previous project I used Sophos but it's for a different purpose with junior board switches. Now we're dealing with a security project so it's a different kind of project with different requirements.

For LAN switching it's always been Cisco.

For LAN switches it's always been Cisco and for Storage Networks it's always been with Dell.

I have never mixed them.

I have dealt with switches from other manufacturers such as Cisco, and the Dell PowerConnect switches are easier to work with and scale. Physically, there are not so different, but the proprietary commands differentiate them. The cost of Dell is also cheaper than that of Cisco.

We don't have any experience with other switches. We're thinking that in six months we'll look at more switches.
