I rate Dell PowerEdge VRTX nine out of 10. While I cannot say Dell is better than HP or IBM, Dell has a strong presence here in Qatar. We can recommend Dell because of that strategic factor.

VRTX is pretty much an enclosure with power, storage, and other central features. The blades evolve over time because this is a model that was available almost for the last ten years. Initially, the blades were older processors, and they have evolved but not a lot. Just the components have been updated as time passed on. It is a very good solution for a small business because it is cost-effective. It is small, and it can be configured as a tower, so you don't even need a rack, although it's not the best way to use it. It is a 4U unit, so it's not that big, and it can pack a pretty good punch for that size.

For customers who want to have the best computing power available for the least cost, I would recommend it, even today. I would recommend obviously dealing as much as possible with Dell. You can also look at the secondary market, refurbished or used market, but obviously, some companies will never go there just because it is not their policy to do it. They don't want to accept the risk. It is a good, proven solution from what I've read. I'm happy with it. It is way less expensive than other alternatives out there, but it has to be the right fit for the company. The company has to make sure that they're going to be happy with it.

This was a bit of a special project for me. It was for a company that's very cost-conscious. It is a startup. Obviously, this year has been a crazy year for everybody, so they didn't want to be too courageous. It was an opportunity to buy a unit at a very good price. The risk was minimal, and we were quite surprised at the quality and what we could do with it, given the price. It was a very interesting purchase.

I would rate Dell PowerEdge VRTX a nine out of ten.

I'm using VRTX, however, it's end-of-life.

I am just an end-user. I am not a partner.

I would definitely recommend the PowerEdge VRTX. For a small and medium business, it's a perfect solution.

I'd rate the solution a nine out of ten.

We deploy some VMs. We install Active Directory in the VMs. We also install file servers, DNS servers, and other ERP systems. Our clients need virtualization solutions. We use Hyper-V or VMware. We create VMs.

We don’t work with the solution anymore. We used it in a past project. We work with other Dell systems like Dell T410 and Dell T430. We use smaller systems. I will surely recommend the solution to others. The system is very trustworthy and reliable. Overall, I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

We are evaluating VxRail and we read some comments on the internet that the VxRail service will have only one rate controller. However, you have four nodes inside. So we expect that if any one of the four nodes fails the rest of the cluster will survive. So there's no point in asking the protocol failure on those nodes. And if that rate controller fails, then it is a single point of failure. Dell admitted that, yes, it is the single point of failure. So if that rate controller could be increased because then I think that would be a better design for the device.

I would recommend this solution and I would also recommend having a protocol because you cannot expect all engineers to have enough knowledge on how to do diagnostics. You should also bundle training for Dell so that the end-user will have the needed level of knowledge to continue using the device properly.

I would rate it a nine out of ten.

My advice is to ask Dell consulting to set it up for you. It took me about a week to get everything working as expected.
