Allows for easy retrieval
Pros and Cons
  • "I can use the cloud version for storage and easy retrieval."
  • "While I feel the price being charged to be reasonable, it should either be more cost-effective or account for an increased amount of storage space."

What is our primary use case?

I only use the solution for personal use, on my mobile and computers. I use it exclusively for my file storage needs and do so on a personal, not organizational, basis.

What is most valuable?

The solution obviates the need to store any extra sets of files or to do so on my physical device. I can use the cloud version for storage and easy retrieval.

What needs improvement?

The solution allows one only a certain amount of free storage, but he must pay for a subscription, perhaps on a six-month basis, if he wishes to maintain this. While I feel the price being charged to be reasonable, it should either be more cost-effective or account for an increased amount of storage space.

For how long have I used the solution?

While I cannot say for certain exactly how long I have been using Dropbox, I know it has been a long time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am not in a position to comment on the scalability.

I have no intention of increasing my usage. I am happy with what I am using right now.

How are customer service and support?

I have not contacted Dropbox or Android technical support.

How was the initial setup?

As the solution is cloud-based, there is no installation involved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution allows one only a certain amount of free storage, but he must pay for a subscription, perhaps on a six-month basis, if he wishes to maintain this. While I feel the price being charged to be reasonable, it should either be more cost-effective or account for an increased amount of storage space.

What other advice do I have?

I cannot comment on the performance, as I have not contemplated this, the solution being for personal use only. When I will no longer be in need of the solution, I will stop making use of it.

I do not work on the actual software, but am just an end user.

I do not have any specific advice for one who is contemplating using the solution. Each person must choose for himself if he wishes to use it. This said, I would recommend the solution for file storage needs.

I rate Dropbox as a nine out of ten.

Provides good stability, but the data recovery feature for the free version needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's most valuable feature is storage."
  • "They should archive the data."

What is our primary use case?

I use Dropbox to store files and pictures.

How has it helped my organization?

The application helps free up storage space on my phone. I mostly have all the data in Dropbox.

What is most valuable?

The product's most valuable feature is storage.

What needs improvement?

The product's data recovery feature for the free version needs improvement. Once, I had lost all the data. When I contacted the support team, they were unable to retrieve it. They should archive the data.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for more than ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product has good stability. However, it has some performance issues. It needs a better warehouse for data backup. They should provide more storage for the free version.

How are customer service and support?

The response from the technical support team could be faster. They sometimes take two days to reply to an email, whereas sometimes, they respond in two hours. There is nothing specific.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. It takes two to three minutes to complete. I can  easily use it on the desktop, web, and mobile. It is well-integrated with Google and a few other email providers.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Dropbox for personal use, as it is a free tool. You can store data and ensure security. I rate it a seven out of ten.

Reliable with good performance and makes it easy to share documents
Pros and Cons
  • "The performance has been good."
  • "I'd like to see security improved a bit."

What is our primary use case?

I usually work with Dropbox to upload my documents. I use it for personal and business needs.

What is most valuable?

Sometimes I work on a site with a lot of restrictions and security policies and I cannot connect to the environment to deliver a package. I usually use Dropbox to upload the package I need and they use my Dropbox to download the package. I usually work with Dropbox to move my data to another site.

The performance has been good.

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see security improved a bit.

I would like to get it to the point where we could offer permission on one file to make one person see that one file only. It might help improve the security of the entire Dropbox.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using the solution about six years ago. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'm very happy with the performance. It's stable and reliable. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is very good. It's not a problem to expand. You can buy more capacity as needed.

I'm not sure how many people are using the solution in my organization.

How are customer service and support?

I have not dealt with support before. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they would be.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've also used Google Drive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We're satisfied with the pricing. It's fine. If you need to increase storage, you can just buy more capacity. That said, I don't directly deal with licensing.

What other advice do I have?

As this solution is on the cloud, we're always using the latest version of the product.

I'd recommend the solution to others. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

User-friendly, good performance, and has plenty of storage space
Pros and Cons
  • "The security is very good."
  • "If someone manages a large amount of data, they will need more storage, which they must purchase."

What is our primary use case?

We use Dropbox to store our documents.

What is most valuable?

The performance is good.

It is easy to use, very user-friendly.

They provide a generous amount of space.

Google Docs and Dropbox provide the same level of satisfaction as Pepsi and Coca-Cola.

The security is very good.

What needs improvement?

It is adequate for my needs, as well as those of the average person.

When you consider a private cloud for improved security, there will be fees, and the process will become more complicated.

If someone manages a large amount of data, they will need more storage, which they must purchase.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Dropbox is reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It belongs to me, and I use it. If I want to share a document with someone, I give them access and then remove the rights after a set period of time.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have also used Google Docs.

If you implement Google Docs, the Google directory is very intuitive.

I received assistance from Google. They are always available and quick to respond.

I would rate them a ten out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

There is no installation because this is a cloud-based solution.

What about the implementation team?

You can easily implement it yourself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The amount of free space they provide is sufficient for me. However, if you want more space I don't believe is very expensive.

I don't pay any licensing fees.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to those who are not worried about their document being on a public cloud. It can be used by anyone; it is quite secure.

My scale is very small. I don't have many security requirements. I am at ease with the documents that I have saved.

This solution does its job well.

I would rate Dropbox a ten out of ten.

No installation was necessary because it's all on the cloud.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also use Google Cloud. I use both of these solutions for various tasks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price could be a bit better. There are other options you could go to that wouldn't be as much.

We pay for the solution on a yearly basis.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I've also evaluated Google Cloud and have compared the two solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer and an end-user. I mainly use the solution for my own personal documents and other digital items.

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. For the most part, we've been happy with its capabilities.

I would recommend the solution to other companies and users.
