We use Dell Avamar for backing up a VMware environment.

The main use of Dell Avamar is as a backup and storage solution. 

We're a managed services provider, and we've developed a custom version of Avamar. It is intended to be a product for single customers, but we transformed it into a multi-tenant platform. 

Avamar is a hybrid solution. We can deploy Avamar as a direct-to-cloud service, or we can deploy agents onto customers' endpoints at their branches, and they can then back up straight into our mobile attendant platform and update centers. We also offer customers on-premise appliances.

We're using Dell Avamar for data and endpoint protection.

Our clients have found Avamar to be effective for their backup and disaster recovery needs. It serves as a comprehensive data protection suite, meeting the requirements of all virtualization platforms.

We use the Dell Avamar solution to backup endpoints, including desktops and laptops. We also use it to back up virtual servers using Dell Avamar. With this server, we take backups of all the employees' desktops and laptops. We haven't encountered any backup and restore problems with Avamar. If we will need any support, we will get it from Dell.

Our company has more than 5,000 employees, and we use the Avamar solution for the protection of our rear environment, we are protecting 1,500+ VMs using this solution.

My clients use Avamar to back up VM solutions on VMware's infrastructure.

We've been using this solution to backup our servers. It is a simple backup and restore data application.

My primary use case is backend storage for our VMs. We are fully virtualized, using VMware for our virtualization layer, and we use multiple VMs for our applications, so we have multiple workloads for the education school information systems. Then we have our ERP and HR systems, and our infrastructure monitoring the networking solutions, and so on. All these VMs are backed up using Avamar.

It is a backup solution. So, we do daily backups of around 3,000 VMware guests. That is normally just an image backup where it goes to the VMware API, backs up the image file, and then puts it on the backend to Avamar into Data Domain. It has a specialized storage system that does dedupe and compression, so we can get more on a single disk array. We have more than one site. We have a primary site and a secondary site.

At the Data Domain level, we replicate site to site every backup every day so that we have the availability in our secondary site for every VM. The replication is done with the architecture of the Data Domain itself. 

We have the rapid recovery solution that allows you to stand up any box at either location and have it come up online within just a minute or two. That's done via NFS. It becomes a data store into VMware, and then you vMotion it out. So, it has got rapid recovery at both locations as well.

We are using its newest version. We keep it up to date.

Dell Avamar is a source-based backup solution. It is the best backup solution for people with laptops and desktops from various offices with a small bandwidth. We also use it for remote office backup tasks.

Mainly we suggest it to our users, to our clients, when it comes to a fully virtualized environment of VMware.

We're a solutions provider with backup and recovery software as our main focus, and my work deals with customer support for the backup domains from an architect's perspective.

Usually, it's for on-prem server backup. It's mostly virtual. We have VM backups and subsequent file backups, and we do file restores. In addition, the customer I work for has old Domino Notes, and we also provide support for that with Avamar.

We mostly work with its latest or latest minus one version. It depends on the bug fixes and vulnerabilities in a version.

When Avamar started out, it used to be for a small to medium environment, but now it's done a lot of changes and it's a good backup solution, especially within your VMware environment.

It specifically caters to the backup needs of our data, ensuring secure and compliant operations.

We are using Avamar as support for the VMware Virtual Machine Backup. The chain blocking is very good. With Dell Avamar, we have integrated with Dell EMC Data Domain. It has a 97% completion ratio. That's the reason we are using Dell EMC Avamar.

We have three sites. We deployed Avamar on one site three years ago then added the same setup for the other sites. Following best practices, we're using Avamar with Dell Data Domain for data compression and deduplication.

It is our main backup system while we're in the middle of switching over to Cohesity.

I recently stopped using this product because my work moved away from operations and I'm now a patents director, so I generally do the designing. My client was looking for backups and for an application along with a desktop backup. We are partners with Dell and I'm the deputy general manager of the company. 

We deal with data that has compliance requirements for long-term retention, which is like 10 years plus the life of the client. As long as they're in our program, we have to keep anything related to them for that time period, which can run up to 30 years. We deal with all things related to that. I'm a storage management specialist and we are customers of Dell. 

We primarily use the solution as a backup. Avamar is used to back up our production workloads. Production workloads include Oracle, EBS, SharePoint, file and print service, other application services.

Dell Avamar is integrated with data protection and data domain. We have integrated it with vCenter and a couple of virtual machines from Dell Avamar to the data protection sources.

Dell EMC Avamar is a backup solution. It has integration with the hardware that Dell has and you can backup many things, such as snapshots.

We primarily use the solution the database replications in web hosting, mostly.

The primary use case of this solution was for projects to backup customer laptops for the application capabilities.

It was initially used for remote office, branch office backups, but eventually, it started to be used for small and large data centers.

File level, backup and recovery of data stored on AIX, Linux, and Windows server to Data Domain storage.

We use this product for Windows and Linux servers, and we have both file and database backups stored on them. We use them at smaller sites, which are small offices that are located around the world.

I had come across it for backing up laptops and VMware but previously, I have had clients using it to backup system machines like AIX, Solaris, and others. Slowly, people are moving away from those.

As solution providers, we provide solutions to meet the objectives and goals of customers. We provide a general global architecture and the right solution that will solve a customer's problem and meet the goal at the fixed cost. If the customer doesn't mention a specific provider, then to meet the goal, we use the provider that we have to.

We use the on site version.

We recently stopped using this solution but it was being used to back up our servers and client machines.

Dell EMC Avamar is used for backups and data recovery.

My customer has a huge virtual environment — vCenter and VMware. They need images backed up, they have different workloads like Oracle, SAP, and NetWorker. They have a compliance policy that they have to tape out but Avamar, out of the box, cannot do the tape out. That's why I had to introduce NetWorker into the picture.

We use the solution to protect our virtual machine.

When I was working for a company we used Dell EMC Avamar to backups of the system's data.

We primarily use the solution as a backup.

The solution can be used for the backing up of all environments, including those which are virtual and involve databases and applications. 

In a data center, the entire workloads are virtualized, and they are backing up the content, and sometimes because of bandwidth, operations need to be backed up quickly. In that kind of scenario, this source site replication is very supportive. Avamar evaluates the data that's already backed up, and only the chain blocks can be transferred via the network. There won't be any heavy network traffic, and the time it takes to backup is quick and within the window.

On the client-side, we can also backup clients with Avamar. These days with the pandemic, most of them work from home, and we're using less network bandwidth to backup end user transfers.

We are system integrators. We resell, we deploy, and we support our clients.

In Romania, more customers own their enterprise software. But the new wave wants to also try cloud data centers and cloud backup and so on.

Data backup is our primary usage of the solution. 

We use this solution for backups and restoring.

The solution can be deployed on cloud or on-premises.

We use a basic called a DPS. Typically, we are using mostly networkers just to back up most of the workloads, like cellphone audio ware and the connection, et cetera.

The primary use case is backup, but in this case, my customers want to offload the Avamar server on tape.
