Dell NetWorker Benefits
We had a security event back in February. We lost all our servers. We probably had 1500 servers. We used NetWorker to recover and restore VMs. It took us almost 30 days to get back up. It was not quick. However, we wouldn't have been able to recover without the product’s help.
We first had to restore the NetWorker infrastructure. We used data domains. We imported the catalog. We identified the tier-one VMs we needed and got those restored. We installed security products on them to ensure they were clean. Then, we booted them up. The solution allowed us to recover our infrastructure.
The product is a good backup solution and has helped our organization in most data storage scenarios.

Because of the duplication feature, we were able to save a significant amount of storage space. We do not have to duplicate the data that is being backed up to storage. With this feature, we can back up a single data set rather than multiple data sets.
It has enabled us to save a significant amount of storage space while also lowering our storage acquisition costs.

The types of data and systems we predominantly safeguard with Dell NetWorker include VMs. It enables us to protect infrastructure, bare metal clients, databases, and applications.
Dell NetWorker itself cannot replicate, hence relying on Data Domain for replicating data and backup configurations.
Integrating Dell NetWorker with other Dell products can bring significant advantages to both our organization and our clients. Utilizing NetWorker enhances our understanding of the backup environment and workload.
This product has provide our backup and recovery capabilities for Service Restoration and Disaster Recovery for more than a decade. We have evolved with the product over the years and it continues to meet our requirements.

Without a centralized backup solution, each application/DB owner has to ensure its backup separately and if a problem occurs, he has to execute recovery tasks. In these conditions, the application rower has to make some extra jobs : backup scripting, verifying backups have finished successfully, recovery jobs... This does impact his efficiency and the global enterprise efficiency.
If a centralized backup solution like Networker is deployed, the backup/recovery tasks will be on the responsibility of only one resource which is the backup administrator. This does directly involve that each application/DB owner can spend more time on his real job: optimizing the platform that he owns.
