ESET Endpoint Protection Platform Previous Solutions
I had Microsoft Defender to use, so that is why I moved away from ESET.
I've also used McAfee, Trend Micro, and Symantec.
Maybe two years back, ESET was a product that would be a mid-range product. Sentinel One and ESET maybe would compete with each other along with Kaspersky and stuff like that. In contrast, McAfee, Symantec, Defender, and Trend Micro would come in the top bracket in terms of the top performance, along with CrowdStrike and stuff like that.
Nowadays, that scene has changed drastically. Defender is there as a professional, full-throttle product. That's one aspect. Symantec is still there on the top of the pile. McAfee is losing its place since they've messed up with the build and all the stuff. Trend Micro is also almost there on the top of the pile, yet not exactly on top of them, however, they're pretty much there. Brands like CrowdStrike, et cetera, are beginning to step in into the top of the pile in terms of their technology. ESET is also closing that gap in terms of their abilities.
View full review »We use ESET or Avast typically. That's all. I know of Kaspersky and it is a very bad antivirus. I don't like it. I don't know why. I find lots of bugs in this software. Symantec, I'm aware of it, however, I don't use it. It's very hard for the computer. McAfee is good for beginners.
We used to use Symantec and Norton. We switched from Symantec and Norton as they are very heavy on the computer. They slowed everything down.
View full review »We have used Symantec. My experience with Symantec is really limited. We switched over to ESET. We didn't have a lot of options with Symantec. For example, we wanted something with a lot more options.

The feature I saw on Symantec was not available on the version we were using in our proof of concept of ESET Endpoint Antivirus. However, I would have liked to have tested the EDR solution from ESET.
I previously used Symantec and BitDefender.

I have previously used the antivirus software from both McAfee and Norton. In fact, my technical support consultant has been recommending that I go back to Norton, and I'm not against the idea, but I would need to have a better comparison to make the switch.
Previously I had used Avira, which is a German antivirus solution.

View full review »We have used different solutions and are not necessarily tied to only ESET solutions. It depends on the requirements of the client. For example, ESET EndPoint Security is suitable for clients who need a more complex model of security technology. This solution is good for clients if they have a firewall like Sophos or Sophos Antivirus integrated into their firewall.

I have used nearly all of these kinds of solutions throughout my career, and this is the one that I tend to go back to because it's all there. Specifically, I have used AVG, Norton, Avast, and BullGuard.
ESET does not have a heavy footprint like Norton.
When I first tried ESET many years ago, it was not as straightforward to use, but it was very good for administration and networks. The fact that it would scan the entire structure of the machine and any drives, in a corporate situation, was quite valuable. After this, I started using it myself and realized just how easy it is to use.

I am working with a new Endpoint Security Company, and the name of the product is Cynet.
I am still working with Cynet.
Instead of Cynet, it is an EDR. It is now extended XDR. It is an extended response.
For Endpoint Security, I use both ESET and Cynet. However, unlike ESET, Cynet is a proactive tool. MDR is included. It is also paired with SOC.
One of the companies I oversee is one of the Mator company's branches, and they use Cisco Endpoint Security, which is a terrible tool when compared to ESET or Cynet.

We previously used a different endpoint solution but I don't remember the name. We switched for two reasons. Firstly, in the previous solution, the implementation of the different versions to the endpoint was a little complicated. And secondly, the price. ESET is a more reasonably priced solution for us.

I was using Malwarebytes as a stopgap solution, but I'm sure they have a whole corporate strategy. I started using ESET initially because they had a centralized control tool. Maybe Malwarebytes has changed so it's managed in the cloud now. I haven't explored that or used a cloud version of the software.

We were using Sophos. Our MSP had a bad experience with it, so we decided to go with ESET Endpoint Antivirus. We get it through our MSP, and it was a part of the package, and that's why we dropped Sophos.
Sophos had Intercept X on the server-side to protect the files on the server, but we had to pay extra for it to be on the endpoints. We at least had the server version, which was kind of cool.

I have worked with Cylance. It does not have the problem where some machines are missed during the initial setup and discovery process, but it suffers from having too many false positives. I think it is related to how it works, based on machine learning technology. This means that you have to create a lot of exceptions, time and time again, especially for applications that are crucial.

Yes, we switched as ESET was easier to use, has management console functions, and the application is cost-friendly for a small business.
