ESET Endpoint Protection Platform Stability

ManojNair2 - PeerSpot reviewer
Founder/Director at Augesys Solutions Pvt Ltd

In terms of stability, the performance parameters do come into play. It's good on the regular office front, however, on the development side, if somebody is using it in a development environment, they need to make some configuration changes in terms of what directories should be excluded from the real-time scanning. I had to do that kind of stuff. I don't do that with the Microsoft product, for example. It runs, and it scans the entire system with no issues.

The solution is stable. Regular updates were available in the product versions. They were updated, and they gave regular signature updates also so that the product checked all the boxes.

Sometimes it is not running as well. When it actually doesn't work properly, then the whole process of reinstalling it is more or less a tedious task. If they could actually work on that and make it a lot better, that would be good.

The stability of ESET Endpoint Security is above average but excellent.

The application updates are very good. They do not affect the performance of the PC. If the users have a medium-scale PC the solution operates very well. If the user's PCs have the latest processor and it is updated, they can use some other product. A faster PC does not get impacted by the software if it is heavier on resources.

We experience some stability issues from time to time, but we can't confirm it's due to ESET. Some system tasks read past some script which makes it difficult for developing custom tasks. For normal installations, it's fine.

For the most part, the product works very well. It is stable and we do not have any bugs or glitches with this solution. The only problem that we have had is in trying to move some clients to version 6.5. In many cases, we can not uninstall or upgrade this version with the package provided. We must go with a CMD tool on safe mode to uninstall the program and install the new version that way. But this is the only bug we have experienced and it is not affecting the utility of the product. It is just a problem with the installation of the upgrade.
