We evaluated Fortinet, but it seemed to be better suited for SMBs or smaller market segments.
View full review »I've evaluated Mist AI. I'm using it at the same time I'm using ExtremeCloud IQ.
Which solution I prefer is a complex question because it depends on the requirements. For example, you may have a campus system or a small-scale system, or you may have a distributed system. ExtremeCloud IQ is a good solution if you have a large or distributed system.
Your security policy could also affect what solution would be best for you. There's a big security gap in ExtremeCloud IQ because access points talk to the internet directly, and in some cases, that's not allowed because of the security policy.

When they put out an RFP for the last project where we purchased some Extreme Networks products, it listed certain specs we were looking for. Some solutions met those specifications exactly or better than Extreme. One vendor who responded told us that they didn't think we needed that level we requested. They specified less, and their price was less, so I had to go into a detailed analysis to show whether they did or did not meet the requirements of the RFP.
One of the things I learned in that process is that it's hard for a layman like me to tell whether I'm comparing apples to apples. It would be nice if a person in my position could compare an Extreme switch and switches from Aruba or another company, but that was a challenge for me. That's why I'm hesitant to compare solutions and pricing. I might be comparing a Chevrolet to a BMW, for all I know.

Yes, we evaluated Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, and Ruckus. We found that Aerohive performed the best and most consistently across campus.
View full review »We tested APs from several vendors including Cisco, Aruba and Ruckus before deciding on Aerohive. Their product quality and feature set are above average and their cloud management solution is beyond anything else on the market.
View full review »Yes, we looked at Aruba and Trapeze. The Trapeze folks almost got into a fist fight in the data center and the Aruba folks were so ridiculously arrogant I couldn't stand it.

Extreme has a different operating system that is easier to use and easier to apply a policy from the edge to the core than Cisco or other solutions offer. Extreme is also backward compatible. You may have firewalls and switches on different versions, but it's compatible. With Cisco, you need to have them all on the same version in order for it to flow through from the edge to the core. You may have different organizations and slightly different versions, but you can easily appreciate an update that will be applicable across the deployment. Those are two key differences.
Meraki, Aruba, and Ubiquiti were evaluated along with Aerohive. We had evaluation APs from Meraki and Aruba. We looked at coverage, ease of use, and TCO.
View full review »Yes, I looked at several other options. These included ARUBA, RUKUS, MERU and MIRAKI. None of these solutions came close to Aerohives offering in terms of cloud management and ease of use.
View full review »Yes. Meraki, Cisco, and Arbua networks were all evaluated.
View full review »We evaluated Meraki and that was a close second. In the end, I do believe we made the correct decision for our organization.
View full review »We evaluated Aruba, Rocket, Cisco, HP and one or two others.

I don't have any experience with Cisco DNA Center, so I just wanted to confirm and compare the differences between Cisco DNA and the other solution.
We looked at several other options, including Cisco and Aruba.
View full review »We evaluated Meraki prior to choosing Aerohive. At the time, Meraki did not support PPSK's, which was a requirement for our network.

Before choosing this product, we evaluated Extreme Networks for the switches; excellent but would have required additional management and expertise. I looked again at Netgear but went with Aerohive for the reasons I've mentioned, and HiveManager.

We chose to evaluate Aerohive and Cisco Meraki for this project. Price-wise Aerohive is the lowest competitive bidder for this WLAN project.
View full review »Meru, Aruba, Cisco, and one other that I can't remember were all considered before Aerohive was chosen.
View full review »We also received a bid for this project from Aruba.

There are many alternatives that we evaluated, and we chose ExtremeCloud.
View full review »Meraki/Aruba.
View full review »I'd highly recommend this product if they're looking for feature-rich APs that are easy to deploy & manage.
View full review »Was not apart of team that was choosing wireless options at the time. Have not even heard or seen any other wireless system that was before this.
View full review »This system was set up before I began managing the environment. I cannot say which vendors, or even if other vendors were evaluated.
View full review »Yes (ruckus, cisco, meraki, etc.) but this had the easiest interface to set up. Again, the interface is very easy to set up. A general knowledge of networks is all you need.
View full review »Cisco, Aruba, Meraki (before Cisco purchased).
View full review »Motorola WING but it was overkill for our needs of a small business.
View full review »Yes – we did evaluations of some other products.
We tested Cisco Meraki – Meraki is very good product, straightforward with configuration, but they don't provide central management which can be kept in-house, but only hosted on their cloud. We were not satisfied with it, because we want to keep all our info inside our network.
We also tested Cisco APs with controllers, but again this architecture is not something that would suit us, because of absent central management.
View full review »Sure, Cisco, Aruba, HP... The usual suspects. Aerohive seemed like the way to go for a few reasons. The cloud based management was among the deciding factors. We can check on and manage the environment anywhere, anytime.
View full review »We evaluated Ruckus, Cisco and Aruba before selecting Aerohive.
View full review »We evaluated HP but they had no controllerless solution at that time (before Aruba acquisition). The controller price (you need redundancy, right ?) broke their neck in terms of budget.
View full review »We evaluated Aruba and Meraki. Meraki was not our choice due to not being able to get a stable Wifi connection due to it being unable to handle the interference here in our office. Aruba was nice and the pricing was similar to Aerohive but I felt their cloud interface wasn't as user friendly.
View full review »Yes, we evaluated Cisco and Aruba.
View full review »Before choosing this product, we also evaluate Motorola, Aruba, Cisco, Juniper and HPE.
View full review »Nope.
View full review »Our administrations department would like to try new hardware and look at a different vendor, so we are testing Rukus because it is cheaper.
View full review »Yes, Aruba, Meraki and Ruckus were also evaluated.
View full review »We used to implement wireless networks using traditional Access Points when our vendor proposed this product to us. Therefore, we weren't interested in finding another solution.
View full review »Aruba, Ruckus, Cisco.
View full review »Before choosing Aerohive, we had an in-house solution. We researched what could be done locally and the advantages of staying in-house. Aerohive provided us with a staple and scalable solution that suited our needs.
View full review »Yes, we also looked at Cisco, Meracki and Ruckus Wireless.
