FireMon Security Manager Pricing
There is sticker shock on Firemon's pricing because it is done per device, but I'll guarantee you that it's well worth it. For each of our customers, we save at least one FTE a year. We would have needed 20 more people in our organization without the FireMon application.

We're billed monthly.
Sometimes, if there's a need for an upgrade or there is a system failure, there might be extra cost involved, such as for consultants or to procure the necessary equipment. We might be needing an upgrade very soon, and there will be costs connected with that.

This is an expensive solution. The cost of three modules for three years was approximately one million. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.

FireMon is very expensive. I think that they charge a premium. In general, they are very pricey. Compared to their competitors, they cost a little more than the other solutions that we evaluated.
They license per module. They have four main modules that they license currently. The base license is included with the Security Manager module, which was our initial purchase back a year ago.
The professional services is an add-on, and it is one where you can purchase more professional services. It is per project. So, it is an add-on for your initial implementation project. At a later time, if you have another project that you would want professional services on, they will quote you for that.
The support comes in tiers and it's also per module. I don't know of anyone who would purchase a license for a module and not purchase the support that comes with it.

It's a good value.
From a licensing standpoint, our only limitation is the number of devices that we manage. Our environment is small. We have fewer than 20 enterprise firewalls, meaning it's hard to say what it would look like at a company that has thousands and thousands of enterprise firewalls. But from our standpoint, it's very simple to understand, and gives us a good bang for the buck.
There are some hardware components involved in the cost, but in general, it's pretty straightforward. There are no hidden fees or adjacent costs that we weren't aware of going in.

We pay on a yearly basis but my manager takes care of it. Regarding additional costs, if you want things like Policy Optimizer, extra features, that's extra.
View full review »Understand that the licensing exercise, is intended to right size the costs to your actual firewall models, but that Firemon v8 does not make a distinction between firewall models in the tool itself.

We don't license all of the devices in our network, so it does not provide us with a comprehensive visibility of all devices in a hybrid network at this time.
I'm not involved in our licensing costs, but I do know that FireMon has a wide variety of different licensing options.

Pricing model seems fair. Make sure to separate active versus inactive devices, and primary versus standby in HA pairs, as there is a significant cost savings for licensing; licenses on the applications are perpetual.

That being said, the ROI for securing dedicated professional services (vendor support) is amazing. It is relatively inexpensive, very customizable, and is a great help when approaching projects with the solution.

Our licensing is done yearly. There are different levels of support to pay for, but there are no hidden fees. The pricing is very good, very straightforward. It also came in cheaper than AlgoSec and Tufin.

The pricing was very good during our initial year, but they increased it this year a little bit. The price is okay. It is not cheap, but it is still average.

The solution is expensive. It's not the cheapest option.
We've pre-paid for the license. We don't have to pay for it on a monthly basis.
View full review »They set a round of what we wanted to see. They didn't just come in and say, "Here's how it works", because different companies are different. Different companies want to use it in different ways, so they found out what we wanted and helped us set the training up to look at things that we want to be able to use it for. That was nice.
